Yup, the kid's a minor. It will be hard to prosecute him for protecting his mother and their home. But the perp’s family can still sue even with the obvious intent of the perp.
This legal system is twisted beyond repair.

The first shot was to startle him to make him rise up to get a better centermass shot with the second one. It was a strategy miss, IMHO.
