President Obama shook hands with Venezuela's Hugo Chavez on Friday at the opening of the Summit of the Americas being held this weekend in Trinidad and Tobago.
It wasn't immediately clear Friday evening what words were exchanged between the two leaders, but photos released by the Venezuelan government show Obama clasping Chavez's hand and smiling broadly.

“People all across this land are waking up and they are being led by those who never fell asleep in the first place.”
The anecdotes from last week’s rallies bear this out.
I have two nieces in their late forties, in New Jersey,(of all places!) who went to their first political rally EVER on April 15. They have vowed this is just the beginning for them. They promised to attend every anti-Obama rally within 50 miles of their homes, at every Tea Party available.
These girls work very hard for the money—a widowed hairdresser and a mother-of-two waitress—and they are sick and tired of paying for this huge corrupt government.
What we don’t want is our President in bed with the worst fascist and commie thugs in the world!
He did this handshaking and kowtowing, friendly routine AGAIN with Dictator-for-Life Chavez, down in the Carribean today!
Followed by a rump pump..
He merely groveled..
Yuck lol
Did he ask Chavez why he thinks Obama is an ignoramus?
Disgusting!
I’m surprised Obama did not tea bag Chavez.
That is true... I guess I should have said embarassed because of the inexperience and naivette of our idiot in Charge. Obama is Neville Chamberlain on steroids.
I don’t see what the big deal is. A socialist shook hands with another socialist. I mean...would you be surprised if Adolf Hitler shook hands with Benito Mussolini
Obwaaama “is going to get you killed” BUT
FIRSTABLE he will make USA (not all of it)a laughable stupid country...
I don’t mix up Obwaaaahma and USA
HAHAHA!!!
Take that you Communistic Pig!!!!!
Distant cousins?
How to get the GOP to get a spine?
Vote out the RINO’s.
Bloomberg now a Repub (again)?
Clearly the Repub Party has learned nothing over the last 8 or so years.
Nixon was trying to turn Mao against the Soviets and Viet Cong so that America could win both the cold war in Europe and the hot war in Vietnam. Obama is not trying to turn Chavez against anyone.
I could read his mind viewing the clip....it's obvious that Zero was caught like a deer in headlights, and also had his bowing gaffe in mind. Definite little boy moment.

Ortega stepped up and introduced himself to Obama, U.S. officials said. But a short time later, Ortega delivered a blistering 50-minute speech that denounced capitalism and U.S. imperialism as the root of much hemispheric mischief. The address even recalled the 1961 Bay of Pigs invasion of Cuba, though Ortega said the new U.S. president could not be held to account for that.
“I’m grateful that President Ortega did not blame me for things that happened when I was three months old,” Obama said, to laughter and applause from the other leaders.
What kind of response is that? It’s all about him again. And there’s no doubt he is anti-U.S.
Zero’s basically saying he agrees with these scumbags, Zero is 100% an enemy of state and needs to be watched carefully by true patriots in our intelligence branches... he’s going to slip up and commit some treasonous action...well beyond Clinton selling satellite technology to the Chi-Coms for example.
This will not stand. He’s going to cross a line well before 2012.

Yes, that's the problem. There's a HUGE leadership deficit in the GOP right now. We live in a time when the Republican party is thin in the bench. Good people are out there, but they're all a little green. Palin has enormous natural gifts, but I wish she would withdraw from the spotlight for a while and develop her resume. Inspiration can only take you so far. She needs more concrete accomplishments. Jindal also has a big upside: very bright (almost wonkie), articulate, etc. He just doesn't have the experience yet. So, we're a bit like lost sheep without a shephard as the Biblical idiom puts it. Grassroots enthusiasm is great, but eventually there there will have to be leaders who take charge. There isn't much we can do until the 40ish age group wins its spurs. In the meantime we'll have to go to elections with the leaders we have, to paraphrase Rumsfeld.
There really does seem to be some sort of generational/cultural shift unfolding. The GOP of Ronald Reagan--and post-WW II conservativism in general--is no more. The spiritual children of Bill Ayers gave us Obama. You've got to wonder if the cohort ages 21-35 will ever understand conservatism. Right now there is an enormous hunger out there for conservative leadership among the 35-50 set, but there aren't any viable trustworthy Republicans. We're going to have to make our peace with this for the next couple of cycles until a solid GOPer emerges. I hope Zero doesn't ruin the country in the meantime.
