President Obama shook hands with Venezuela's Hugo Chavez on Friday at the opening of the Summit of the Americas being held this weekend in Trinidad and Tobago.
It wasn't immediately clear Friday evening what words were exchanged between the two leaders, but photos released by the Venezuelan government show Obama clasping Chavez's hand and smiling broadly.

I cannot help but think that there is a huge backlash in works and the Democrats are going to pay a very heavy price. If that does not happen then this country will start deteriorating very quickly. All we have to do is look at California and New York for what the future holds.
This was the top, front page story in Pyongyang news tonight in North Korea, announcing in a rare moment, the full North Korean military leadership and continuing on war mode. And of course they are now going back full force into nuclear weapons production as we speak, kicking out UN nuclear inspectors two days ago including a US team living in North Korea, after boldly shooting the ICBM missile over where I currently am (two weeks ago), all because they detected the weakness of our new President, and a number of "once in a lifetime" openings. A top Obama aide said they (Obama Administration negotiators) would go anywhere ASAP to talk with Pyongyang one on one, after the missile launch and to cool tensions. The absolutely LAST thing you would want to say! This is the scene here in Asia and in Asian strategy mindsets, as EXTREME WEAKNESS AND KOWTOWING TO AVOID A FIGHT. Obama be baaaad news, for sure.
After what that creep said about Dr. Rice I just don’t understand why Obama would have anything to do with Chavez. Whose hand will he shake next - Kim Jung Ill? Ichmadennejad?
I pray we get through the next four years.
It’s all starting to remind me of some Tom Clancey novel or something. Unbelievable that it is happening so fast. He is operating like an enemy of this country that is afraid of being found out...so everything is rushed to rack and ruin.
I just threw up a little bit in my mouth after reading that treasonous romp it could have come from the very pulpit of rev Wright and probably did.
For the first time in my life I am ashamed to be an American.
In the middle of these dark days I had the privilege to attend a tea party with
fellow patriots. I believe you're correct. As the party was attended by both GOP
Republicans and old time Democrats.
It appears that he is willing to throw Israel under the bus for Syria and Iran.
To be frank here, I talked with some fairly high level conservative japanese in officialdom, off record and back channel, and let me tell you, they are amazed at the pace of it unraveling, what Obama is bringing on internationally in global affairs and international security threats.
You can't quote them here, but you can sure certainly paraphrase "AmericaninTokyo" on good authority.
I wonder how many Americans will have to change their shorts after the see this photo. Not sure if this was the CHANGE they were expecting!
It is just over.
In a weird way that’s something I take comfort in; knowing the Lord will always protect Israel.
I am thinking our best defense against Obama and his evil machinations is prayer. And, prayer for the conversion of mohammedans.
2010 could be the last chance."
Thank you Gabrial! Yes, 2010 is key. The "Republican Revolution" of '94 is a prime example of mid-term backlash, but it was wasted. The GOP sat on their laurels and blew it. We are now paying the price.
So the time is now. Write "Letters to the Editor" to your local paper. Talk (don't preach) to your co-workers. Convince that irritating liberal In-Law of yours to at least take a look at FR or Fox News. In short, spread the word, but be a salesman, not a nag.
Liberalism is a treatable affliction. We are the councilors. Venting on FR is fun and therapeutic, but it is also preaching to the converted. We need to take the message to the DUmmies and Kos crowd, and we need to do it better than we have in the past. We lost on '08, but we can (must) win in 2010!
After the Constitutional Convention had finished its work in 1787, a woman asked Ben Franklin what kind of government had been decided upon. He replied: “A republic, if you can keep it.”
I just keep praying that someone at the CIA , NSA, Israel..someone..anyone..has the goods on Obama’s birth certificate and that he really is not eligible to hold the office. If they do..they need to leak it fast before he ruins our country and others! Sounds like Putin is heading back to Georgia too! All of the bad actors on the planet are making their moves!
God Help Us All!
As Reagan said, we must trust but verify. That is, we need to call them and see if they have balls to stand up to this destruction of our Nation. They and their district office may talk one way to us, but then cave in D.C. or be silent or be a bunch of p*ssies on the other, particulary one can almost predict this out of the GOP centrists and RINOs. So we need to REALLY LET THE GOP AS A PARTY HAVE IT in my opinion--as they are stronger in D.C. than we are--and insist that a number of them WILL in fact run the ball for us in D.C. against Obama, but some of them are going to be weak and two faced. Direct pressure on the Democrats and Obama Administration, while good, would certainly have more receptivity by Republicans first. (if the GOP doesnt want to go into the historic trash bin and be overtaken by a grassroots conservative Third Party). We may have to do a little political threatening of our own party first to get some things done here. I think of the RINOS in California all wanting to join the Tea Parties only after it appeared they were a groundswell and taking off; but in the initial stages they would not return phone calls or thought it was fringe, kook stuff. I have had my fill of these mealy mouth types in the GOP. They are almost worse than the Lib Democrats, whom you would expect this from.
He bowed the pride of our nation. What a prick.
