On another thread someone pointed out that one section of the report was WORD-FOR-WORD a QUOTE from the SPLC (Southern Poverty Law Center), but unattributed. I’d have to investigate that myself as the FReeper didn’t provide more than that, but it wouldn’t surprise me ONE BIT. It SOUNDS like all the drivel the left has spewed out for YEARS on this issue, trying to tear others down and make themselves look “good”.

Some years ago I knew several people who were part of the JPFO (Jews for the Preservation of Firearms Ownership), and after a protest they attended where they wore a “star of David” on their clothes to remind people that GUN CONTROL led to the NAZI’s extermination of Jews, the SPLC actually tried to say these JEWISH PEOPLE who had protested, and were trying to say “Never Again” were actually ANTI-SEMITES and “neo-nazis”! They are very BOLD when it comes to their LIES, that’s for SURE...

Ask and ye shall receive :)

The text from the Southern Policy Law Center web site was quoted in the DHS report, but was strangely attributed to “a prominent civil rights organization” and not to SPLC. Is DHS ashamed of its disreputable and bogus sources for this report? It should be.

But anyone with the time can do textual comparisons of SPLC material from its web site, with this ridiculous DHS report and see that one begat the other. Certainly the tone and content are very similar. The DHS report has very few (zero) attributions which is odd for a federal government report of any kind. They are usually festooned with footnotes and supporting citations.

In any case here’s the verbatim text I found, first from the DHS report and second from the Southern Poverty Law Center:

http://michellemalkin.cachefly.net/michellemalkin.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2009/04/hsa-rightwing-extremism-09-04-07.pdf

DHS Report, page 7:

— (U) A prominent civil rights organization reported in 2006 that “large numbers of potentially violent neo-Nazis, skinheads, and other white supremacists are now learning the art of warfare in the [U.S.] armed forces.”

Southern Poverty Law Center web site

http://www.splcenter.org/intel/news/item.jsp?site_area=1&aid=197

“Under pressure to meet wartime manpower goals, the U.S. military has relaxed standards designed to weed out racist extremists. Large numbers of potentially violent neo-Nazis, skinheads and other white supremacists are now learning the art of warfare in the armed forces.”
