Janet Napolitano Admits ‘An Apology Is Owed’ ("Right-wing Extremist" Warning)
Fox News ^ | April 16, 2009 | Bill Sammon

Acknowledging that “an apology is owed,” Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano promised Thursday to “meet and clear the air” with veterans groups that were offended by her agency’s report citing “returning veterans” as terrorist risks to the U.S.

“To the extent veterans read it as an accusation,” Napolitano told FOX News, “an apology is owed.”

“I’ll meet with the leaders of some of the veterans groups,” she promised on “FOX & Friends.” “The last thing we want to do is offend or castigate all veterans. To the contrary, let’s meet and clear the air.”

Napolitano said she was briefed on the report, including the warning about returning veterans, before it was released.

“I have to tell you, I was the United States Attorney for Arizona in the 90’s when Tim McVeigh bombed the Murrow building in Oklahoma City and unfortunately he was a vet — that’s where he got his training,” she said. “And so when I was told about the report, it rang true with me. This has happened in the past.”

She would have given Arizona to Mexico if she could have, I think.

Thanks, I had heard that before but was afraid of getting bombarded as a conspiracy nut. I’m glad I’m not the only one who heard that. I also think this is why McVeigh was executed so fast whereas Mumia is still alive...

“I just called the operator line which is 202-282-8000, and reported myself as an extremist since I go to church....the operator was not amused.”

I did the same, identifying myself as one of “Secretary Napolitano’s so-called right-wing extremists.” I said she was WAY out of line as a cabinet-level government official to make such incendiary comments about traditional-minded Americans in that DHS brief.

I added that I, along with countless other like-minded Americans, will press hard on our Congressional reps and Senators to apply whatever amount of pressure is needed upon this administration to force her resignation. She is unfit to hold government office.

Finally, I said I hope she has been bombarded with similar phone calls. The operator replied, “I have.”

I, too, am happy to be a taxpaying pain in the a$$.

Agree!
Even if McVeigh did, so what? Where did Bill Ayers learn how to make his bombs? Is Ayers now a right wing extremist?
This woman needs to resign, ASAP!

Dosen't sound like she's sorry for what she said at all, only sorry that some veterans took offense at it.

I’ve written letters to all my congressmen / woman, calling for a strong rebuke of this woman and the report.

Hadn’t heard a peep.

They should tell her to go to hell. Take her “apology” and stick it up her ass.

What is amazing is the heat she is getting from Republican politicans,

Despite any half-assed “apology”, what’s in the report reflects Napolitano’s real views. So she should resign. If she doesn’t, and she isn’t fired by Obama, then our all volunteer military should resign immediately, so they are no longer “suspects”.

If the government thinks I am a potential threat or terrorist because I served in the 4th Infantry Division in Vietnam, then we need a new government.

Unfortunatly, she is NOT stupid. This report was calculated. Also it was NOT meant to be released to the general public.Thank GOD for a slip up that revealed the thought processes of a radical agenda

That’s how I feel. We saw her on some TV show this evening and just looking at her makes me sick. She’s not at all professional looking and is not qualified. A joke...nothing but a joke. She does need to step down. I’d take my chances with any one of our veterans and trust them with my life which is something I would never do with HS nor HER at the helm.

For every veteran like the evil Timothy McVeigh there is a veteran like the heroic Rick Rescorla.

I realize what you're trying to say, but of all the millions of men alive today who have served, from WWII onward, there has only been one Timothy McVeigh. She is an idiot and a bigot.
