WASHINGTON— The Obama administration is telling Central Intelligence Agency officials who used waterboarding and other harsh interrogation tactics on terror suspects that they won’t be prosecuted by the Justice Department.
Senior administration officials told the Associated Press that Attorney General Eric Holder will release a statement Thursday giving the first definitive assurance to the CIA officials that they are legally in the clear.
The officials spoke about the Holder statement ahead of its release on condition of anonymity, so as not to pre-empt the attorney general.
Even before President Barack Obama took office, aides signaled his administration was not likely to bring criminal charges against CIA employees for their roles in the secret, coercive terrorist interrogation program. They noted the program had been deemed legal at the time through opinions issued by the Justice Department under the Bush administration.

Doesn’t mean he won’t go after some of the higher-ups. Mark my words. If Obama’s poll numbers tank, he’ll use this as a distraction.
BS
Are they in the clear because the Obama White House believes waterboarding was acceptable? Is acceptable?
Or because that although they believe waterboarding is unacceptable, and was unacceptable, that they won’t prosecute as a discretionary choice?
When do the lefties who put him in office start screaming for impeachment now?
No he has done some good things:
More troops to Afghanistan. Military commanders have been asking for more help there for some time.
-Just announced several weeks ago -He wants more stockholder say over ceo compensation
-more emphasis on renewable energy. We can't rely on oil forever. Someone needs to get the ball rolling. China is spending big yuan on R&D in this area. I would rather our country get the benefit from patents than China, Japan and Europe who are spending big R&D bucks on alternative energy.
-allowing Americans to visit Cuba. Wait until the Cubans see their rich American cousins with their electronics, money, showen pictures of their nice homes and cars. The last 50 year policy with Cuba has been a failure.. maybe we can get closed North Korea to open up to. What would happen if Sorth Koreans were allowed to vist North Korea?
(We know Holder's got the hots for Beyonce)
Obama can be manipulated with this over his presidency.
Obama will need their waterboarding technique for political dissidents.
Nothing is altruistic about Obama.
There is nothing good about this no matter what he says about who won’t go to jail. This has just destroyed our national security. Our intelligence gathering will be destroyed for years and years over this because intelligence demands complete secrecy not only about what we know, but about how we know it. From now on all of our allies and even some of our enemies who give us intel on mutual enemies will no longer trust us. If we can’t keep our own secrets then how in the hell our we going to keep theirs? Even the former Soviet Union passed us intelligence when it benefited them, do you think the Russians , the British, and even Iran who passed on intel about the Taliban will ever tells us anything again? They will be to afraid that Obama will use it to score political points and any leaked intelligence reveals how we got it. This is a sad day for America and Obama has just removed our most effective line of defense.
he wont prosecute them because he is keeping the same policies and wants people to do it for him.
So why bother letting the cat out of the bag and telling our enemies what we do?
“...because the CIA knows that Obama was born in Kenya and it would come out at every trial.”
BINGO!! Would have loved to be a fly on the wall when Rahm and Axelrod got that phone call....LOL!!
Obama is fishing for stuff to dump on Bush.
(...won’t be prosecuted)
Maybe not but they will find themselves assigned to places like Borneo.
I don’t care, to me it’s STILL TREASON
‘past’ ?
