“No. I'm not a big fan of any hate crime legislation.”

We can agree on this topic...Hate crimes are much like gun laws...They usually start by communist {splc} or the like finding an area that a few bald headed freaks walk around moving their arm like a broken windshield wiper...

After they get the initially laws then they go after any and all things they find offensive!

“I think that the federal government can regulate the kind of firearms a private person can't have: anti-tank rockets, nuclear weapons, howitzers, sawed off shotguns, what have you. But I don't think that the federal government can constitutionally ban firearm ownership altogether. The Second Amendment makes it clear that it's a militia issue and militia are a state matter.”

I think the Federal Government is much like that fat Cow Rosie O'Donnell...They want to subject ‘us’ to strict Firearm regulation yet they have ten or more Armed guards themselves!!

As for Concealed carry permits..Then you would agree that it is a State matter? Would you then agree that it's up to the State on which persons are disqualified from ownership such as misdemeanor convictions?

It's the same at the local level.

I feel that if a state believes that people are responsible enough to carry firearms then they're responsible enough to carry them anywhere. What frosts me is all these states that say you can carry a weapon except... And then they exempt public buildings where they may happen to be - capitols, city halls, schools, what have you. I believe that there should be no exceptions whatsoever for public buildings of any kind. And on private property then the owner can decide otherwise. In cases like that you are free to make your own decision as to whether you want to patronize them or not.

Would you then agree that it's up to the State on which persons are disqualified from ownership such as misdemeanor convictions?

I'm torn on that. On the one hand the Second amendment makes no exemptions on what people have the right to bear arms. On the other hand, they tie it with the militia and a state has the right to set standards for militia membership. So I suppose the state should be able to restrict ownership under certain, specific, limited conditions.
