I actually think Affleck means well. I think he's grown up priviledged and really doesn't understand the real world nearly as well as he thinks he does.

No, he didn't grow up privileged. Mostly working class. He did grow-up in Cambridge and throw-in that he works in Hollywood now and you know all you need to know about him.
