THE AUDACITY OF ROPE; HANG ALL THE PIRATES -- NOW
NY POST ^ | 4/14/09 | Ralph Peters

Posted on 04/14/2009 3:21:59 AM PDT by Liz

This weekend's success won't be enough to keep our merchant mariners and cargo ships safe. Somali pirate gangs have already threatened retaliation against third-party captives. And all Somalis believe the US lacks strength of will and staying power. They remember President Bill Clinton's cowardly retreat from Mogadishu. They'll expect a replay from President Obama. Some pirates may avoid US-flagged ships. Others will go out hunting for them -- to teach us a lesson. Will our president behave as Clinton did with al Qaeda, simply hoping the problem will disappear? Despite the blessed rescue of Capt, Richard Phillips, the indicators aren't encouraging. It's time for real audacity, Mr. President. But this one takes rope, not hope. Pirates must hang.

Not enough: It's great that rescued Capt. Richard Phillips (r) could embrace Cmdr. Frank Castellano -- but the US should destroy all the Somali pirates.

Here’s the known pirate town of Eyl, Somalia. You can see the pirate boats (skiffs) lined up on the beach at waterline.

Go get ‘em!

Heh-—they’re sitting ducks. The world is in stitches that the dummies let a US Navy destroyer tether them with a towline.

The towline was apparently supposed to be “helping” to prevent the lifeboat from straying into dangerous rough waters. Musta got ‘em to pop out of the porthole by yelling something about the towline getting loose.

ROTFL. Dumb bunnies fell for it.

Looks like we gained the confidence of the pirates-—making them think they were in control, to put them at ease-—while snipers were getting in position to strike.

Now they’re dead dumb pirates.

-- but the US should destroy all the Somali pirates.

Almost all of the ships who travel the area are not U.S. flagged. None of the ships being held are U.S. flagged. None of the hostages being held are U.S. citizens. Not a dollar of ransom has been paid for a U.S. flagged vessel. Why is it up to the U.S. to destroy all Somali pirates?
