Pirates on Friday sailed a hijacked German freighter and its crew toward a lifeboat off Somalia where an American hostage is being held.
They are reportedly doing so an attempt to help their comrades in a standoff with the US Navy.
Four pirates are holding the American captain of a cargo ship, Richard Phillips, in a drifting lifeboat and demanding $US2 million for his release and a guarantee of their own safety.
They have been holding him since a foiled attempt on Wednesday to hijack the 17,000-tonne, Danish-owned Maersk Alabama in the Indian Ocean.
A destroyer, the USS Bainbridge, is close by.
Another group that hijacked a 20,000-tonne German container vessel, the Hansa Stavanger, a week ago is reportedly heading to the scene of the standoff.
Our President Bush would let this kind of $hit take place. Obama is an embarrassment to our Nation.

What comes to my mind in a fantasy sort of way is the old James Bond film, The Spy that Loved Me and they had the supertanker that had its bow section built to swallow other ships or rather submarines in the movie, do the same to the pirates.

With the lights onboard the ship light, a small skiff is invisible and silent compared to the sound of the ships engines. The skiff is faster than the fully loaded ship so they just pull along side, throw a hook up over the railing, and take control.
They are going to piss off the who western world (except Obama of course) and end up with more than they bargained for.

Only if the MSM plays the same adversarial role toward Obama that they did toward Bush.
That has a lot to do with human nature. Military personel are “Trained” to follow orders. Civilians are more prone to violence due to less discipline. No guns, no killers.

And what of our not-so-illustrious Secretary of State? Or is she off cackling her fool head off somewhere and soliticiting foreign campaign contributions?
How hard would it be to put a number of reinforced combat platoons onboard container ships?? One good-sized container is big enough to hold all of their equipment, and then some, and you could easily put a number of those containers on several ships that would just transit the area, trolling.
Set up several modern day “Q” Ships, and then blow these guys to hell as soon as they approach within shooting distance. Most of these “pirates” are attacking with automatic weapons and RPG’s, so that means plenty of firepower on target as soon as they get close enough. I’ll bet a couple of dozen Marines can outfire 4-5 Somali Maritime Labor Organizers...
This is exactly what the British and American navies did in the 17th & 18th Centuries with pirates; close and let them have as much round shot and cannister as you could fire.
Just let them shoot first, then no prisoners, just an oil slick. It won’t take long to get enough of these assholes that the rest will get the message and be afraid to go out on the water.
It does and I’d thought of that too. But these attacks are daily occurrances and climbing. There has to be some way to promote self defense on these vessels.
Banks will hire Brinks for armed security to deliver $10K.
You have a multi-million vessel out there loaded with how much in goods, and they don't use armed security. It's crazy.
