The Christians in Egypt, called Copts (from the Greek word for Egypt) are the descendants of the ancient Egyptians. The Muslims tend to be descendants of Arab infiltrators and invaders in the sixth and seventh centuries. Now the Copts are a small fraction of the population in what was their own country. This is what is happening n Europe right now.
