The Christians in Egypt, called Copts (from the Greek word for Egypt) are the descendants of the ancient Egyptians. The Muslims tend to be descendants of Arab infiltrators and invaders in the sixth and seventh centuries. Now the Copts are a small fraction of the population in what was their own country. Yes, it's a terrible situation for the Coptic Christians.

Spoke with an Egyptian born MD recently and she said she and her family had to leave because they were Coptic Christians. There were threats on her family and her uncle was killed for no reason.

Now she is here and her two sons are in medical school. That represents a big brain-drain for Egypt. Islam is to be feared and avoided at all costs for a civilized society.
