They argue that 25,000 people work directly for the 1,000 suppliers of the F-22 in 44 states, and another 70,000 indirectly owe their jobs to this program.
Instead of arguing about jobs (another form of earmarking IMHO), how about arguing the value of the weapon system to our military? This argument makes the F-22 seem like a make-work program, not a US military lifesaving system.

You’re correct, the F-22 is a most valuable weapon for our future defense and that should be the argument to keep funding it.

Exactly.
Nancy Pelosi wants to keep the C-17 line open as well.
Not for military readiness, but for her own pork-barrel project.

Letting this type of politics cloud the system endangers valuable programs.

The reality.....

These fighters are only effective for early stealth strikes against heavily defended installations.

Obama is never going to order such a strike.

The F-22 has no value to our military in that case.

Some must sacrifice in order that those brave members of the UAW can continue receiving their pay checks and full benefits...

The F-22 manufacturing base spread across 44 states was done intentionally to make it harder for Congress to prematurely kill the program or Obama.

Very good point. I saw that in last night’s pre-release and blew a fuse over Sen. Chambliss basing his argument on jobs alone.

Ideology trumps facts and common sense. A priority of The Usurper is to neuter the US. His logic will be that if people are not afraid of us the will not attack us. Now think about that for a second. What happens when people are not afraid of you? But that will be the talking point and the brain dead American public will just sit there shaking its yes like a bobble head.

You are totally right.

But there is THIS particular Congress to consider....which doesn't give a rat's-behind about anything BUT constituent make-work.

Gates staying on only helped give Obama credibility on defense. He needs to go along with Obama, but an impeachment won't happen with THIS congress.
