I go to this range on occasion. Very small. Maybe eight lanes. They had another suicide there a few years ago. Some guy took a bus from across town, rented a gun, walked out onto the range and shot himself.

I never thought this kind of thing would happen at a shooting range.
I always thought they were so safe except for getting nailed once in a while by flying brass.

There was a suicide at a Cincinnati area range I had shot at;suicidal people are obviously not thinking clearly. The speculation of motives on the mother/son case is going to be something.

A range I went to in Bellvue WA some time ago once had a guy walk in, present all his ID, rent a gun, and promptly commit suicide on the range.
These things happen. If someone is mentally ill and out to kill themself, not a whole lot you can do about it.

I’m going to bet that all the people who would do this kind of thing at a shooting range are not legitimate gun OWNERS.

The level of desperation that so many people seem to be feeling these days is just frightening.
Prayers for everyone involved.

How odd that she chose to do this at a gun range..
My son and his buddies shoot at this range now and then..and I drive past there all the time going to Publix.
Her name seems familiar but I didn’t see a photo in the Sentinel of either mother or son.

Eyewitness Jim Copertino was in shooting target practice next to the pair and said the mother and son appeared hyper and jittery, as if they were on drugs. I just wonder if the kid really wanted to be there. I wonder if he knew what his mother had in mind.
The woman had a history of mental illness.
Poor Jim will probably second guess himself for the rest of his life wishing he would have done something. He knew something was up with those two.

I used that range just a month or two ago as I was passing through that part of the world. You’re right, it’s tight quarters in there.

Join a gun club. You can rest assured that most gun clubs check their perspective members out fairly well. And since all the members are gun owners, you can assume that no ones is going to come in to just commit suicide on the range. They can do that at home. I went shooting just yesterday and for a large portion of the time, it was just me and my two friends there. Much better than a public range.

I really think all the attention that is put onto these murder-suicides is encourageing sick individuals to get their moment in the spotlight.
This will be spun as a gun control thing, but that isn’t even the issue here - there have been gun control laws overturned or implaced so the guns were there to start with.

Suicide has nothing to do with the “times” or who's in the White house. It's happened at gun ranges before, and it'll happen again, and it happens more frequently than you realize. In my own circle, I personally know five people who have been touched by such tragedy. Several years ago, one of my colleagues decided to “eat the gun” at work while in the office coffee room. Nobody ever found out why. My next door neighbor, was a lovely woman with everything to live for. Two beautiful kids, loving husband. Fine house in the suburbs. None of us knew she was under 24/7 suicide watch. One day she found herself with just 15 minutes of alone time. She went into the garage and started her car. That's all it took. Not surprisingly surviving friends and family members don't talk about it, but it's out there and it happens. It happens frequently

This the worst single week since Columbine for defender of the 2nd Amendment, even though most of the incidents are job/layoff-related.
