A Romanian career criminal who raped a young woman so he could be sent to a 'luxurious' British prison and get free lodgings and English lessons had his wish granted yesterday.
Ali Majlat, who was allowed into this country despite having spent more than half his life in prison, cornered a 21-year- old at a deserted train station and attacked her in a subway.
He had been released from prison in Oxfordshire only two days earlier, travelling to Yorkshire in an unsuccessful attempt to visit his brother Dominic, who was already in jail for rape.
Majlat, 35, had been inspired to carry out his crime after hearing from Dominic about the 'easy and comfortable conditions' in British jails, and yesterday he was ordered to serve an indeterminate sentence at one.
Today the Daily Mail can reveal the shocking truth about Majlat's past, raising new questions about the ease with which foreign criminals can enter this country, as well as why he was not deported after his first jail term.
Majlat appeared to smirk in the dock due to what his lawyer said was a medical condition.
His victim has been left seriously traumatised by her ordeal, has difficulty sleeping and is afraid of men and isolated locations.
As with other EU citizens, Romanian nationals need only a passport to enter Britain, so immigration staff may not be given details of any convictions in their home countries.
Last year the Tories revealed that in the previous 12 months an estimated 3,000 foreign criminals were released without being deported.

Could he be....
MOOSLIM!
You said — “Guess his Religion.”

Okay, I see that Romania has 86.8% Eastern Orthodox, 7.5% Protestant; 4.7% Roman Catholic, and “other and unspecified” is 0.9%....
So, my guess is “Eastern Orthodox” — how did I do?? :-)
Since his first name is Ali, I’m guessing you failed the test. In this case, “unspecified” is probably muslim.
Dominic is a weird name for a Moose brother, though.
I’m no expert on Romania but I have been there a few times and I have a number of friends there.
Neither “Ali” nor “Majlat” sound the least bit Romanian to me.
With his brother’s name being Dominic Majlat, and his being Ali Majlat, and especially with his parents sending him to an orphanage, I’m sticking to Eastern Orthodox. That all sounds very “Romanian” to me... :-)
BUT, if someone can show it to be different, I’m open to hearing that...
Put him in a British prison and throw away the key. Then spread a rumor that he’s a child molester and a snitch. Let the fireworks commence :)
Says something about your ‘justice’ system when punishment has been so watered down by feel-good liberals that it is an incentive to crime rather than a deterrant.
majlath is a hungarian name. It is also associated with slovakia (oldest source) and romania (some part of historical hungarian empire now in romania — transylvania)

Cut off his Willey! Nuf’ said.
what they didn’t tell him was that castration was part of the deal
(one can only wish)
Ummm..., on second thought, instead of him being Eastern Orthodox, perhaps I might go for Roman Catholic, instead, if the name is more Hungarian...

From post #10 — “majlath is a hungarian name. It is also associated with slovakia (oldest source) and romania (some part of historical hungarian empire now in romania transylvania)”
> Neither Ali nor Majlat sound the least bit Romanian to me.
I’d say you’re right. The Romanians I’ve met have surnames that often end in “i” or “u”, with names that are a bizarre mix of Slavic and Italian — which I guess makes sense as Romania was founded (strangely enough) by the Romans.
Bags I he’s a muslim, possibly an immigrant to Romania. Plenty of muslims living in neighboring countries. Dunno about his brother Dominic: if he’s not a muslim but a Christian, then he’s a bad example of one.
I don’t understand how you can describe a rapist in religious terms, maybe you shouldn’t try to discern what kind of christian he is and instead figure he isn’t one
Put him in the Tower. Make him part of the tour.
Well..., Mount Athos, you said — I dont understand how you can describe a rapist in religious terms, maybe you shouldnt try to discern what kind of christian he is and instead figure he isnt one

Just answering the question in post #1....
“Guess his Religion.”
You should probably direct your statement to post #1, since he was asking about the religion...

Well, in answering the question in post #1, I would say either Eastern Orthodox or Roman Catholic — and especially considering the information in post #10 (the source of the family name).
Note the “stats” for the country of Romania in post #3... “Muslims” don’t even *rate* their own “category” in that country... LOL...

Note post #18..., I’m saying that he’s either Eastern Orthodox or Roman Catholic...
> Note the stats for the country of Romania in post #3... Muslims dont even *rate* their own category in that country... LOL...
(grin!) Well, I guess I stand corrected. Vlad the Impaler must have done a remarkably good job of cleaning up the place of muslims if they don’t even rate their own category!
