‘Tea Parties’ — A New Political Movement Is Brewing (Tea Party/Tax Revolt updates and links)
Fox News ^ | April 4, 2008 | Peter Roff

Posted on 04/04/2009 12:54:21 PM PDT by abb

Washington’s continued mishandling of the economic crisis has disquieted the electorate. The bad economic numbers, the precipitous decline in the stock market, the dramatic increase in government spending and the tax increases lying just over the horizon paint a picture of an out-of-control federal government grasping at straws in the search for solutions.

snip

In the case of the current crisis the blame appears to have been assigned almost totally to Obama, at least by the thousands of U.S. taxpayers attending near-spontaneous “tea parties” in protest of the Democrats agenda of more taxes, increased spending, higher deficits and a surge of borrowing to pay for it all. These mass protests, which have been occurring in different spots almost weekly — 2,000 people in St. Louis, 3,000 people in Cincinnati, 6,000 people in Orlando — promise to culminate on Tax Day, April 15, with at least 300 protests at sites large and small according to the “official” Tax Day Tea Party Web site.

As was the case with the Obama campaign, the new “Tea Party Movement” is bringing people out to engage in politics, many for the first time in their lives. And, again, as was the case with the Obama presidential campaign, these activists are making liberal use of new media technologies like Twitter and Facebook to find supporters and allies, to meet each other and to establish a sense of community...

snip

The “Tea Parties” augur the beginnings of a new political movement, it is now clear, that may eventually exceed the power of MoveOn.org and others of the new liberal pressure groups in their ability to influence the votes of politicians in Washington as well as state capitals in every region of the country.

Even Delaware is getting involved: April 15th in Wilmington, Dover and Georgetown.

That’ll leave a mark on Old Joe.

BINGO! Enough of this pansy tea party crap. Most of the American populace doesn’t even know what a tea party means thanks to the domination of our public education system by leftist teachers.

You hardly know me and yet you use the word “gay” in reference to my suggestion?

While not ruling out that at some point we may have to go a more, shall we say-— tougher route, you might be advised that there might be more temperate ways to start the “revolution”, at least in the beginning.

Somehow, I suspect that you are not quite as brave, or as tough as you would have us believe.

Which undoubtedly explains the “gay” thing.

Oh, sorry, I spoke up. Your response sounds a little Orwwellian to me. Disregard the opposing view or better yet stomp on it. Isn’t that what the left does all the time?

Instead of group think (your own), how about some original thought for a change. Flame away, I have all weekend and plenty of ink left.

You would think that it would be an important part of the news stories for a simple reason: Gun-free zones are a magnet for these attacks. Extensive discussions of these attacks can be found here and here. We want to keep people safe, but the problem is that it is the law-abiding good citizens, not the criminals, who obey these laws. We end up disarming the potential victims and not the criminals. Rather than making places safe for victims, we unintentionally make them safe for the criminal.

Odd how the MSM never covers this angle. Hey New York Times, would the truth be a "game changer"?

Thomas Jefferson said it best:

"Prudence, indeed, will dictate that governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shown that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such government, and to provide new guards for their future security."

These tea parties, IMHO, are what I consider a canary in a coal mine. People attending these things aren't your normally politically active types. But they know deep down something is terribly wrong.
My take? Let the socialists keep pushing. At some point, some where, lead is going to head down the range, and then its "Katie bar the door".
Oh, and for the RINOs ( I put the RNC leadership here ): trying to jump in front and wield the band leader baton--that trick won't fly when people are genuinely pissed. It's more likely to get you run over.
