Authorities arrested Jose Manuel Salas, 33, and Javier Harvey Ortiz, 44, Saturday in connection with an early morning robbery along Azle Highway.

Reports indicate a homeowner operating a business from the same location called for help at approximately 1:30 a.m. after he found two men stealing cash and rolls of quarters from his business.

The homeowner told the men to stop before firing a shotgun once at one of the suspects who then fled with another man in a car, according to an affidavit detailing the incident.

A short time later, Parker County Sheriff’s deputies detained a vehicle matching the homeowner’s description. Salas was driving and Ortiz was a passenger, the Sheriff’s Office said.

A statement claims deputies found stolen property matching a description given by the homeowner inside the vehicle, and the homeowner arrived to identify the suspects and vehicle.

Salas was charged with burglary of a habitation, failure to maintain financial responsibility and for no driver’s license.

Ortiz was arrested in accordance with a Tarrant County warrant and was also charged with burglary of habitation.

Nothing about shotgun pellets in the bad-guys; how do you miss with a shotgun?

"Salas was charged with burglary of a habitation, failure to maintain financial responsibility and for no driver’s license."

Is this a Federal crime? Can we use it to remove the Kenyan and his party from our White House and Congress?

The “failure to maintain financial responsibility” is nothing more than the Texas Law regarding Automotive Insurance. In other words, the criminals did not have auto insurance when pulled over.

lol

You beat me to it.

And all those folks calling the Dave Ramsey show had better watch out for a 2 a.m. knock at the door.

Clearly they were American Citizens. Everyone knows our guests from south of the border are all hard working, upright, scrupulous, shiny eyed, role models.

And those knocking on the door at 2 AM should expect to receive the same response these two did, with better accuracy.

As I understand, “O Dark Thirty” raids in Texas are not the problem they are elsewhere.

Texas law allow the shooting of anyone on your land after dark.

Easier than you would think

A shotgun is not a guarantee of a hit at close range the pattern is only a few inches wide

In dark moving targets excitement all stacks up against shooter

Quite easily.

A shotgun gives you far greater one shot stopping power than a handgun and less penetration than a rifle but pattern spread is no substitute for good marksmanship. A nine pellet double aught pattern spreads about four inches at seven yards. People who intend to use shotguns for self defense need to practice as much as people who have rifles or handguns.

I was rearended in Houston by an individual who was unable to provide “proof of financial responsibility”, proof of ownership or a valid driver’s license. And, by the way, she was Mexican. After receiving three tickets she drove off. Policeman at substation told me not to bother to send paperwork on the accident to Austin - they wouldn’t do anything with it - and the Mayor won’t let them impound the cars or haul the perp off to jail. Wonder how long it took her to hit another car.

And I’m sure that the deposit made in their underwear as a result of the shotgun blast slowed them down!
