Father John Corapi on the Evils of Socialism
fathercorapi,com ^ | 4/2/2009 | Father John Corapi

At a time when it surely seems that capitalism has run amuck and poised the world on the edge of economic ruin, the temptation is very strong for the pendulum to swing too far left into the failed and immoral territory of socialism. Historically pure socialism has never worked, philosophically it cannot work, and morally it is inherently evil (because it undermines the right of private property ownership, an inherent human right) and hence should not be given a chance to work.

The response might be that what we have at the moment isn’t pure socialism. The problem is that the moment is incredibly fluid and the direction toward a more radical form of socialism under way with frightening speed. Unless, of course, you believe the politicians and their appointees whose stock-in-trade has become lies, deception, and self-interest.

The common error is to think that socialism helps the poor and disenfranchised. As Pope Leo XIII pointed out as long ago as 1891 in his Encyclical “Rerum Novarum”, socialism does not help the poor. Rather, it reduces everyone to the same lowest common denominator of poverty and misery, while at the same time drying up the very sources of capital.

If every church had a Father Corapi, the Catholic Church would be very different today.

Fr. Corapi knows from personal experience that the wages of sin is death and communicates that knowledge very effectively.

Can you imagine Corapi as the Bishop of the diocese of DC, SF or LA!
MAN! Talk about “kicking ass & taking names! LOL

He said one Sunday night that all these so-called Catholic politicians who have voted for abortion funding over the years should have been excommunicated!

Excellent post theBuckwheat.

Socialsim, and more so communism, are totally anti-christian. Christ, in our entire lives, gives us personal freedom. HE is the one who blesses us. He is the one who gives us the freedom of choice of if, how, where and when we use those blessings. His goal is to bless our lives. The Bible tells us he wants us to prosper.

Socialism/communism doesn't recognize Gods sovereignty over anybody. It doesn't recognize blessings and prosperity are from God. And it doesn't recognize the free will God has given us in all aspects of our lives. Basically, it doesn't recognize God.

One does not have the right (under God) to look at the blessings God has chosen to give somebody, and take them for yourself or give them to another. It is arrogance and rebellion against God. The person is coveting which God commands us not to do. And what is coveting, besides wanting what someone else has, or wishing them not to have it? Its telling God that your not content with what he has blessed you with. Its telling God he doesn't have the right to bless someone else. Its telling God he doesn't know what he is doing. Its not waiting and TRUSTING God for his sovereignty, wisdom and provision for your life.

Before the election 0 "claimed" to be a christian. And yet EVERY issue he stands on is polar opposite of Christ.

Christ wants to bless.
0 wants to curse.

Christs wants people to prosper.
0 wants poverty.

Christ wants increasing joy.
0 wants equal misery.

Christ wants life.
0 wants death.

Christ calls children a blessing.
0 calls children a punishment.

Christ gives us free will.
0 wants no will.

Christ calls us to humility.
0 doen't understand the concept.

You can tell a person by the fruit in their life (0's is Rahmbo) everything about 0 is anti-Christian.

Good points, but a day late and a dollar short; we passed socialism long ago - we’re now headed deep into former Soviet/PRC territory.

I'm not Catholic, but have heard Fr. Corapi a few times. He kind of reminds me of the Apostle Paul. Kind of no nonsense, tells you like it is, whether you like it or not.

And Just like Satan, socialists prey on the young, old and infirm. The young who have been sheltered by their parents, and are are just starting college, it as a form of rebellion. I can remember the SDS on campus and how the main attraction was that it espoused everything their pastors, and parents were against. They made everything good sound bad and everything bad sound really good.

As my grandpa used to say, if the devil came at you dressed in red with horns and an evil face, you would run away as fast as you could.

If Socialists told you what their real intentions are, to make you just as miserable and hatefilled and hopeless feeling as they are, there wouldn’t have been one kid voting for Obama.

There are two very important things we can be doing educating everyone we know about what is going to happen and the other is to humble ourselves in prayer. Only divine intervention will slow this train wreck now, and God doesn’t intercede unless asked.

Great teacher he is.

All the EWTN gang are each special in there own way.

As I said on another thread I am not a sports fan but really enjoy Crossing the Goal.

I bet with the socialism movement of Obama as through out all history it will only cause a back lash and the Church will grow immensely.

Christs Church survived Lenin and Hitler. His Church will survive Obama and his movement.
