Get used to people being in your personal space and refrain from pulling or jerking back when someone touches you. It is customary to touch and stand close to one another.

They are using this as the "wow - Bush was such an idiot, holding hands and hugging" blah, blah, blah.

Now, who was using the proper ettique?

I by no means consider myself an authority..we're just commoners after all. (rolling eyes))

I've been going back and forth as to whether the prez is really this stupid, or is it all orchestration. I'm really thinking they are a bunch of lamebrains. They seem to have no CLUE how to run a government, let alone interact with other governments, or they have some college flunk teaching them etiquette. I just DON'T understand.

If they knew the proper etiquette when President Bush was in office, and wanted to make him look ignorant....they failed because the international govts knew the TRUTH. And for that, we can be very very grateful.

On the other hand, if the other govts see this as a sign of weakness of our country, I fear we are in trouble.

Bush was, of course. Every society has its acceptable level of “personal space” and contact: some more than ours, some less. Bush was treating the king as the king would treat a close colleague, which was appropriate. Obama treated the king as a superior, and in the process disgraced the Office of the President.

The idiot seriously doesn’t realize he is NOT the Office of the President. Like all others before, he is filling the Office of the President for a limited time at the pleasure of the people. The people own that office. He is not allowed to do as he pleases.

The cool thing about Bush is that where he’s from he’s used to a lot of personal space, yet he looked very comfortable with the king, fulfilling the Head of State function of the Office very well.
