As if I needed any more reason to not leave America’s shores.

“But you’re not cultured,” says a Liberal.

“You go and get kidnapped,” I say.

Notice how libs put such high value on “having a passport” or on “traveling in other countries” or on “experiencing other cultures”.

Just shows that they hold their own country and the American culture in low regard.

Good luck to you and your sons.

I’d probably be a few weeks out of the FReeper contingent.

A "Joe" might get five rounds off before he is tagged in return.

True, but enough "Joes" will overwhelm the highly trained and well equiped jackbots. At the same time the "Joes" will self train and the jackbots will dwindle in numbers. Question is how many of our highly trained military and LOEs will blindly follow orders to shoot down our citizens.

Responsible “Joes” will get training ahead of time, NOW.

Also, don’t be the “lone wolf” making a stand in your house (and die).

Have an advance plan, make a strategic retreat when the raiders first come, get the word out, Bubba up, and meet the next raiders with organized resistance.

Check out Midway USA online. Looked to me earlier today like they were about to get some remanufactured 9mm luger in. They also have some (pretty expensive) 9mm in stock, but not a lot.

Why bury your arms? If the time's come that you need to bury them, then the time's come to put the 2d Amendment to the use for which it was intended. Do people really think the time to dig 'em up is 15 years after the juggernaut has rolled over us. and the JBTs have had all that time to tighten the noose around our necks?

Come on, folks, use your heads. The time for hoping things will get better in 15 years was 1994.

Scouts Out! Cavalry Ho!

I’m in the camp of “Bury what doesn’t have an associated 4473, turn in the rest”.

Then, when the turn-in is done, it’s proven that “they” have irrevocably “crossed the Rubicon”, then dig the non-4473 stuff back up.

I’ve got some “Radway Green” (English) .303 Enfield ammo from the WWII era, shoots well.

I’ve also got some “Pakistani Ordnance Factory” ammo of the same caliber from 1967; doesn’t shoot worth a darn, (click-bang) especially when it’s cold.

I also had some 1944 .45ACP ammo, the last of which I shot off recently, that worked well.

My family wanted to take a trip to Italy but I didn’t want to go. I then later applied for my passport, solely to take a trip to Poland to see my favorite band (singer had a nice birthday party there).

“anticipating a record quarterly profit for its Winchester ammunition division”

We definitely helped that cause.

“Are you hoarding ammo”

Wise folks don’t answer such questions.

I can see the need to bury a few in order to survive the first round of confiscation. If it’s in your house and they’re serious, they will find it. You probably need to have a few to give them to keep them happy. I think you would need a quick, hard to find, stash point so you can get your good stuff hidden on short notice. I can’t help but believe they know who has what. You should also create some real plausible deniability to explain what happened to certain missing pieces. Start now to develop some type of minimal paper trail, like a for sale ad posted on some internet site etc..., an ad in a local trader paper etc... Get your story straight in your head now and visualize the “sale” scenario so you can talk about it at will with comfort. If you plan to tell them you sold it at a gun show, as a walk in, go to the gun show, walk around, get the dates and feel of the place in your head so you can refer to your visual image. Picture the guy you sold it to. Maybe some guy came to your house to buy a refrigerator from your craigslist ad. Use him as you mental picture of you “buyer”. Use this guys car as the mental image of your “buyer’s” car. Do the mental and physical work now so you don’t have to hem and haw around when you get asked direct questions on that day.

” If there’s a way to package handgun and rifle cartridges for reliable 100 year storage (or even 50 year storage)…

Quality ammo will outlive you and your children, if simply stored under conditions which limit wide fluctuations in temperature and humidity. Storage in a consistently cool dry environment is all you really need. .22LR is most impervious to the ravages of time. It’ll last just about forever. I’ve had .22LR ammo bouncing around in desk drawers and garage storage cabinets for over 35 years that still functioned. In direct talks with the major manufacturers, they’ve told me their ammo has no known limits on self life. Remington told me specifically their ammo’s shelf life is “indefinite.” Special, Oxygen purging high tech archival storage in Nitrogen gas is unnecessary. Especially so for MilSpec ammo. Several thousand tons of Japanese ordnance went to the bottom of Truk Lagoon over sixty years ago. Sixty years immersed in salt water, yet it remains extremely dangerous to dive on those wrecks because the stuff will still go “BANG!” A local treasure hunter in our area was killed two years ago because he dug up and tinkered with Civil War cannon ball. It went off despite being buried in the ground for over a century.

10 days ago an unsupported, lone gunman took out four cops in Oakland. He tied 100 or so up for most of a day.

I just got back from one of the local gun shops and I am delighted to report that they still had (now in the past tense) several dozen boxes of 7.62x39 ammo and they were selling it for a rather reasonable price.

Dang...I have been looking for .380 shells in San Antonio for weeks with absolutely no luck. I even stopped by the Cabela’s in Ft. Worth on my way back from MO yesterday. He said they got a shipment in on Saturday and it was gone by Sunday afternoon. I inherited my late Dad’s Belgian .380 (was my Grandfather’s originally) and plan to use it to get my CCW license to honor his patriotism. He was my hero.
