This is what has happened with the two party system. Their decisions are based more on what’s best for their parties and to hell with the country.

Loading up our social service network with 10-20 million new welfare recipients is a recipe for disaster.

And a majority of Americans, minus politicians and big business, know this

This is just more extreme anti-Americanism....and more Hispano-Racism

Republicans lose because they are not strong enough in deporting illegal aliens, and not strong enough in preventing illegals from getting benefits....benefits that most Americans do not get

As the GOP tries to coddle the Hispano-Racists by going soft on illegal alienism....the GOP keeps losing elections. Being tough on illegals will win more elections

What the GOP should have done was come with sensible legislation when they were still in the majorities instead of playing politics with it. Instead the GOP ran a candidate who din’t have it in his heart to support banning foreign gangbangers the right to enter or stay in the country.

Got news for ya GOP, those gangs hurt latino voters, who would have been glad to see them gone.

Reagan already gave them amnesty in 1986.

How did that help the Republicans?

The RINO Party Alert.

Just say no to liberals, turncoats, and traitors!

We don't intend to turn the Republican Party over to the traitors in the battle just ended.
We will have no more of those candidates who are pledged to the same goals of our opposition and who seek our support. Turning the party over to the so-called moderates wouldn't make any sense at all.

The author must be a Democrat .... comment after the article says it all:

“Funny how the Chronicle does not identify Jacob Monty, as they usually give attribution to outside opinionators. A very curious omission. Who is he? - A Hispanic immigration attorney in Houston - who makes money off illegal aliens. Getting immigration policy advice from this guy is like getting financial advice from Bernie Madoff. No thanks.”

The laws are being ignored. Might as well propose open borders and let them try to make an argument as to “why not”. Perhaps this would clarify the arguments by taking it to the absurd.

The GOP should start pushing for deportation. The biggest danger to this country comes not from Iraq but from the open borders and the hordes of illegal aliens and immigrants from enemy nations who roam across the country. An invasion.

The scale and spread of violence caused by the Mexican drug cartels make it more important than ever that we not only secure the border but learn the identities and backgrounds of the 20 million undocumented workers living throughout our country.

How does the author get from A to B? Is he saying that the 20 million undocumented workers are cartel members? Or, if they can do background checks on all 20 million and put them in a massive database and determine that they aren't cartel members, that they'll be model citizens and should be granted amnesty? What information will they gather? How many people will be required to establish and maintain it? How many dollars will be spent without doing a thing to fix the problem?

And if the government succeeds in pushing this massive intrusion on privacy onto illegal aliens (and/or newly minted citizens), how long before they will require it of all citizens?

"Pathetic little crap weasel" is right.

He’s right. Without the Hispanic vote, the GOP is toast. This may be a hail-mary, but it’s our only shot.
