....it ain't just Obama and the leftists who're killing it, it's these "capitalists" people like us have been defending. When the chips are down, they suddenly turn into collectivists....

There's a rule about money in the middle of the table. "All money in the middle of the table is mine" or something like that. It's a corollary of the overarching Master Rule: "All money in the Universe is mine. Bring it to me."

More to your point, businessmen have been jack capitalists for a long time .... socializing risk and cost (crummy, unsafe working conditions, lockouts and wage cuts when the old quarterly numbers flag) while privatizing gain (that is MY MONEY!).

Nothing new about that. I think all high-school kids should have a four-year, fixed hour per day of survival logic: forensics, phony argumentation and BS, how to spot long and short cons, how to spot bogus ad and product claims, How Not to Be a Chump, how to sue in small claims court. I think they really need it.

At this pace, it will take decades after he is gone to recover.

The primary culprit behind the whole financial mess we are experiencing is The Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act of 1999.

I think you're right.

What I really want to know is, who was behind it? Who ordered out? Phil Gramm only worked for Big Money -- so who was he working for, to sponsor that bill?

David Horowitz keeps warning us that "it all comes together at the top" and that there is really only one political party.

Not sure why Russia/Putin would want to do anything about him. He is in the process of completely destroying the United States economically. Heck, Putin speech at Davos was 1000 times more positive on capitalism than anything Obamarx has ever said. Putin even warned the U.S. not to go down the socialism path. Once the economic destruction is complete, we will be in no position to defend their move/alliance with Iran and have them control the Persian gulf. We will have won the Cold War but they will have won the one that counted and without firing a single shot.

You are missing the point. It is not up to the government to fire anyone in the private sector. It is up to the stockholders.

I don’t care if they received any bailout money or not. Is this what you want? It sure will not stop at GM. Now that the door is opened, they can do that with anyone.

“However, it’s not THIS action that established the nature of the relationship as fascist. The action that more clearly established the fascist nature of the relationship was the original giving of the billions of taxpayer dollars to the corporation.”

I am in agreement with you on that sentiment. That is why I think financial companies not matter how large need to go the way of the FDIC take down if they are a mess which is basically bankruptcy for banks. All other non-financial companies can give Chapter 11 a shot and failing that, just liquidate and try another profession.

This marriage of Wall Street and Washington that has been occurring legislatively over the last 10 years has created an oligopoly that has given all the political power to a few large financial entities to do as they please with the American populace.

At this point in all the reading I have done, it comes down to what some are coining as the “Goldman Sachs mafia”. These guys are in every facet of Washington and Wall Street power.

Robert Rubin was the point man for the Clinton administration on this bill after spending over 2 decades with Goldman Sachs and would later reap millions on the board of Citi.

Gramm was given millions by Wall Street investors before and after getting this bill and the commodities futures modernization act passed that made sure Credit Default Swaps would stay unregulated and kept states from using gaming laws to stop them since they were essentially gambling. This cleared balance sheets all over Wall Street and freed the firms up to lend even more and more and more.

Leach got a nice sponsored professorship from Goldman and just about everyone else involved benefited greatly.

The last five CEOs of Goldman have rotated into Washington with ease where they have been very influential. Rubin became Treasury Secretary and so did Paulson and his undersecretary, Robert Steel. Paulson is one of the worst offenders of all and is most responsible in pushing this oligopoly power elite into a possible permanent situation.

Tim Geither, a naive Robert Rubin protege, is now guarding the henhouse along with his former Goldman protege. He may just trump Rubin and Paulson in creating the most damage to our Republic and Capitalist system yet.

The line of the Goldman mafia is basically this. They create the nightmare while getting exceedingly wealthy. Then when the shit hits the fan, they blackmail the people via a naive and lazy legislature, by stating that only “experts” can fix this, it is too complex for you simple minded folk.

Remember the infamous AIG meeting with Geithner, Paulson and the AIG CEO when AIG was about to go under and needed a bailout? Guess who was there but no one would say way, Goldman chief Lloyd Blankfein.

The son of a bitch was using AIG’s Cassano pixie dust to free up their books to lend out more and more and more and were speculated to be out 20 billion (probably a shit load more) and were there for one reason. They were getting a back alley bailout via AIG courtesy Hank Paulson and Rubin protege and then NY Fed president Tim Geithner.

They then convince Congress and the executive to hand over fed loans and guarantees and finally tap the paychecks of every working American. And the final kick in the nuts?

Goldman Sachs former executive, Neel Kashkari, is appointed to oversee the dispersement of bailout funds and wouldn’t you know it, the 5 largest firms on Wall Street connected to Goldman got their money immediately and small regional and community banks to this day are still waiting in line to even apply for bailout funds.

And I do not want to hear about how we need Wall Street experts to handle this crisis while in government positions. The conflicts of interests are too deep and too real. That is now about an 11 on the bullshit meter, EVEN IF it is true, there is zero trust there now.

Best to bring in bright outsiders, give them the learning curve time they need, and let them be accountable to only the people and get this work done. The Goldman Sachs mafia has crushed our country enough.

You seem to be well-enough informed about Goldman, and passionate about their corrupt dealings with former executives allegedly in federal service.

I knew about Kashkari, Paulson, and Rubin. I think Rubin also did some discreet money-laundering and political favors for Slick from early days. (I think that's why Lloyd Bentsen stayed only a year at Treasury, before retiring to his family's estancia in south Texas. Slick was back-channeling Bentsen and using subordinate Rubin as a fixer.)

One of the things "somebody" at Treasury did for Slick was to break up a possibly embarrassing confrontation in which ATF and Customs (both Treasury arms) were about to sweep down on a Chinese delivery of fully-automatic Kalashnikov rifles to Asian street gangs and arrest everyone in sight. The rifles came from Norinco in China, whose coffee-loving jefe, Wang Jun, had been a guest at the infamous Clinton "coffees", and the thought in LE circles after the raid was that Wang Jun had been warned off, by the expedient of "somebody" high up in Treasury calling in a naive cub newspaper "investigative reporter" and briefing him about the upcoming operation. Said cub then went straight out to California and started asking awkward questions all over the place and generally knocking over trash cans. Alerted to the press interest, Mr. Big didn't make the meet, and the Treasury agents caught only lieutenants and lesser henchmen in their bust.

But as for the future .... did you know a junior executive at Goldman had been dating Chelsea Clinton? How far "inside" is that?!

Another close friend of Hillary's is Canadian multimillionaire Maurice Strong....this champagne socialist has mused about a revolution against "industrialized civilizations." ....Maurice was related to Anna Louise Strong, a Canadian who became Chairman Mao Tse-tung's close friend and translator. ....In 1972 and 1992, he was secretary-general of the Earth summits in Stockholm and Rio and chairman of a number of international organizations. He was boss of the U.N. Environmental Program and attended scores of meetings of the world's political and economic elites.

When the Soviet Union fell, Communists worldwide were embarrassed and bereft.

Their comeback was the Rio Conference and an "environmentalist" program taken directly from the most recent incarnations of Communist programs for Western consumption, as a rationale for taking control of the world's economy.

At Rio, Strong and other ex-Communist environmentalists showcased their idea shop for sympathetic Western politicians. That was where they sold Al Gore the environmentalist political toolkit he's been using ever since.
