Palin Goes After Media at GOP Dinner
AP via AOLNews ^ | March 26, 2009

(March 26) - Sarah Palin is teeing off on the media once again.

In a little-noticed speech to a GOP dinner in Alaska last week, Palin riffed for nearly an hour on a variety of topics — including her relationship with former McCain staffers, the Bush administration's anti-terror efforts, and actress Ashley Judd.

But the Alaska governor returned multiple times to the "unprecedented level of media slant" that she witnessed during her two-months on the Republican ticket with John McCain.

Her speech, delivered last Friday to the Anchorage Lincoln Day Dinner, was recorded by the Alaska Republican Party and posted online Tuesday.

Reflecting on the campaign, Palin said there were "a variety of reasons" Republicans lost in November, namely the faltering economy, but she seemed to place most of the blame on the press.

Sarah was so bad in her debate with Biden that 75% of respondents to a post-debate poll at the Drudge report said that she prevailed over Biden, a 35 year resident of the Senate.

“Sarah was not much of a factor.”

I beg to differ. Everyone forgets that McCain had to actually chose someone as his running mate. Do you honestly think that if he had chosen Lieberman, Ridge, or Pawlenty, the 3 most talked about possible VP pickes, that he would have done nearly as well as he did? Within 3 days of naming her as his running mate, $10 million in donations was received. Thousands and even tens of thousands of people stood in line and waited for hours to see her. Before picking Palin McCain had very few volunteers out working for him, afterwards, most offices had more than enough volunteers manning phones, and doing other get out the vote efforts. I doubt any of his other VP choices would have had the effect that Palin did. From everyone I know who voted for McCain, about 15 percent of them said they did so because of the energy that Palin brought to the ticket.

As Sarah asserted in Media Malpractice, “What was wrong with my answer to the Bush Doctrine? Even the people in the Bush administration, there were different interpretations to the Bush doctrine.”

Of course neither ABC nor Gibson apologized for its ‘Bush doctrine’ question.

You are kidding, right?

You had GOP establishment types like Bill Kristol urging McCain to pick Sarah, arguing that her presence would bolster support for the GOP among conservatives, who had not taken to strongly supporting him. I wouldn't say “Sarah was not much of a factor,” but I would suggest that her positives outweighed her negatives.

Sarah was a factor in McCain losing by single digits. Sarah revitalized and energized the GOP - note that her rallies were often bigger than McCain's. McCain's rallies went from crowds of 400 people to thousands after she joined the ticket. Why would the media be so antagonistic to someone who wasn't much of a factor, anyway?

Sarah was not much of a factor.

Respectfully disagree......Palin was the reason Mccain was not looking up to see George Mcgovern like numbers

I don’t think she is presidential material. I think she’s perfect right where she is. Perhaps she’d make a good energy secretary. That’d be an appropriate place for her.

May I please ask you for specifics on why you think this way regarding Sarah Palin? I've a theory about Rs and conservatives who refuse to give this lady the credit she deserves, and it has nothing to do with her being 'inexperienced', 'polarizing', or 'unqualified'. Those merely make up the Canard put forth to disguise the real reason(s) some on the Right detest her.

Regardless, McCain-Palin rec’d 99.99% more of the pop vote than did the candidate of your irrelevant Party.

Funny, since I’m finding little evidence for the actual existence of your party out here in the real world.

Sarah got angry that journalism isn’t journalism anymore and she let this get to her.

Sarah got angry because of the basic unfairness of it all. And she is right to be angry, it was blatant and ridiculous.

I do believe that running against the media, against their bias and unfairness is a winning approach, along with fiscal sanity and economic growth. Look, it is now becoming obvious that the media failed in not vetting the Obamanation and we are stuck with this light weight for 4 years. By making that the issue, she can neutralize them and force them to be on the defensive.

How about: "look, the MSM gave us the Obamanation because they would not do their job, at least listen to what I have to say", that will ring true with a LOT of voters.

Without Sarah-McCain loses. With Sarah-McCain loses. So explain to me the hugeness?

Without McCain, Sarah wins. Hugely.

A major supporter of the War on Terror and taking it to the enemy.
His son who is now a Congressman. and Marine Major served several tours in Iraq and Afgh.

I think a good place to start is the fact that she lacks both a penis and an Ivy League Degree.

It wasn’t a post about the occasional random photos showing up, it was about the same images being tied to her permanently in tiresome fund raising links.

Over the next couple of years we have a lot of text and posts and threads to wade through, we don’t need photos of her on every thread, we should save that for momentum building time closer to the election when we will be using imagery to help sell her message and energy.
