OTTAWA The Fox News television host who mocked Canadian troops in Afghanistan has apologized for what he says was a satire.
"The March 17th episode of Red Eye included a segment discussing Canada's plan for a 'synchronized break,' which was in no way an attempt to make light of troop efforts," Greg Gutfeld, host of the segment, told the Canwest News Service on Monday in an e-mailed statement.
"However, I realize that my words may have been misunderstood. It was not my intent to disrespect the brave men, women and families of the Canadian military, and for that I apologize. Red Eye is a satirical take on the news, in which all topics are addressed in a lighthearted, humourous and ridiculous manner."

Red Eye airs weekdays at 3 a.m. on the Fox Network, which is accused of a strong right-wing bias in the U.S.

I wonder about the people who go on and on about people like this guy, who was just mouthing off trying to fill air time, trying to be edgy or funny or whatever. In regular life, if someone says something offensive, and then apologizes for it, do these people say “NO! NEVER! I close the iron door on you!”?
If he didn’t apologize, that’d be one thing. He said something dumb. He apologized. What the heck more do people want from him?

What’s wrong with mocking the Canadian military?
Guys in the Canadian military aren’t just a bunch of Clay Aiken kind of guys, but they wear pink silks too!

The entire show is satire, and brilliant IMHO. Greg often mentions eating children, puppies, and houseboys kept in his cellar, but not need to apologize for them. Grow some thicker skin Canada. I don't remember Wayne and Garth having to apologize for their comedy.
Plus, any show that has Megan on in a short skirt is NOT GUILTY!!

Corporal Rob Furlong of the Canadian Forces holds the record for the longest confirmed sniper kill at 2430 meters (1.51 miles.)Yes, and if I recall correctly, he received an award from the U.S. military for it.

From his Wikipedia page:
Furlong received a Mention in Dispatch for "impressive professionalism and dedication to duty through his valiant conduct while under direct and indirect fire and his actions helped ensure the success of the mission" and a US Armed Forces Bronze Star.

Anyone who takes anything said on Red Eye seriously is foolish. Of course anything Bill Maher says is deadly serious.

We have lost 116 soldiers there so far, plus one diplomat.
The bodies of 4 soldiers are to return to Canada today.
Our militaries are integrated, as they should be.

Actually, yes they have a military, and their soldiers are on average pretty tough, competent and valiant men. They are doing quite well in Afghanistan and the only problem with the Canadian Soldiers is that there are too few of them; a few more Brigades like Princess Patricia’s would be very welcome!

Mmmmm, Patty Ann Brown: if hotness were a horse - I would ride her hard at the Preakness, in front of a cheering crowd, using the crop the whole time - and put her away wet...
Patti Ann Browne.... If cuteness was an orderve tray, I'd take a piece of that and share her with my friends.
Pattie Anne Browne, if brains and beauty were a cake I would eat her at my birthday party, probably in from of all my friends.
Patti Ann Browne, if beauty & brains were a hardware store, I'm sure she'd have the right fit for my tool...
