For those who remember when Reagan ran for President, was it this bad with him too..

1980 was my first election that I voted in. Since Jimmy Carter had no real accomplishments to point to they had to go negative on Reagan. They did the typical race stuff and said Reagan woulf start World War 3 and of course they made a big deal of the “dangerous” Moral Majority (i.e., christian right).

I really wonder, if Reagan had run for President now, with the way the media is, and with the Internet and all, would he have stood a chance

Reagan had it bad - as a Democrat at the time, I believed he was a patriotic American and even I saw how bad it was. He was called: reckless, dunce, senile, warmonger, relied on astrology and on and on.

The difference was there was only a handful of TV networks and media outlets. Now, with the Internet, cable, talk radio and thousands of liberal nutcases digging through trash cans its much worse.

I also believe there was some respect, even among most liberals, for candidates that is completely vanished now. BDS and now PMS has gone way beyond the normal political disagreements into a concerted effort to destroy people politically AND personally.

American politics, thanks primarily to the left, is a bloodsport. That is why the next few elections need to be won in landslide fashion, to check the growing madness of the left.

Keep in mind that your tax dollars fund most of these ACORN and government/campaign workers sifting through trash cans and databases. That has to be halted when we have real leadership in DC.
