An amendment to the GIVE act, prohibits volunteer(sic) organizations from being politically active.
I can see how if it isn’t read in context with the parent bill, it can seem shocking, albeit, the entire GIVE act is crap.

Sounds like a title to an amendment. Presumably it does not forbid all organizations from doing those things (the D after his name tells me that it won’t prohibit labor unions from doing those things). Depending on what narrower class of organizations are forbidden from doing the things, it could be quite obnoxious to freedom and unconstitutional—the more likely possibility—or an improvement on the current situation (again, given the D after the name, very unlikely).

If this language is in the final bill and the bill is passed and signed in to law...it virtually guarantees that the whole mess will be struck down by The Supreme Court...at the worst...because this language is CLEARLY unconstitutional. Fret not. It will die.
I don't know who this DEM congressman is, but you'd have to be functionally illiterate to think that this would pass any kind of Constitutional challenge. Very strange.
None of the three evening news casts mentioned the possibly (read: absolute) unconstitutionality of yesterday's AIG Bonus Tax. I thought it was very odd as well.
