(CNN) -- Former President George W. Bush is writing a book focusing on defining decisions he's made in his personal and political life, a publishing house announced Thursday.
The book, tentatively titled "Decision Points," is to be published in fall 2010, according to the Crown Publishing Group. Financial terms weren't disclosed.
The book will focus on about 12 important decisions made by the former president. Topics will include his decision to run for president, his choice of his closest advisers, the September 11 terrorist attacks, the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, his response to Hurricane Katrina, the forming of his stem cell research policy, his decision to quit drinking, how he found faith and his relationships with his father, mother, siblings and wife.
"I am spending time on the book every day," Bush was quoted saying in a news release. "My goal is to bring the reader inside the Oval Office for the most consequential moments of my personal and political life.
"I look forward to painting a vivid picture of the information I had, the principles I followed, and the decisions I made," Bush said.

He campaigned on “compassionate conservatism.” What do you think that was supposed to mean? Except for the post 911 military decisions, he was exactly the President he said he would be.

Wow, I haven’t had to use this one in awhile, but Bush got better grades even as a cheerleader than Al Gore ever did.
There are a lot of people that think anything but hard-rock conservative is automatically socialist.
Anybody taking poly sci knows there are huge areas in between conservatism and socialism that are legitimate positions.
Doesn’t mean I agree with them, but Bush’s position was legitimate and not socialist.
He was center-right, not a hard-ribbed conservative. I disagreed with him on some things, but I still liked the guy and many of his decisions.
As for Obama, I am willing to be pretty fair to the Dems. I wouldn’t call Clinton socialist, but more center-left.
However, Obama......definitely socialist.
Wrong. This is probably the number one complaint that can be rightly leveled against Bush. He not only failed to use the bully pulpit forcefully for all that was good, but he didn't defend core Republican principles, he didn't defend his poliicies, he didn't defend his people, he didn't defend the smears against him....in short, he chose not to communicate with the country in creative, effective, persistant ways as did FDR, JFK and President Reagan.
Therefore, most of the other and numerous complaints against him SPRUNG FROM the aforementioned....i.e., his refusal to use the bully pulpit to bully, cajole or explain.
He squaundered his golden opportunities at every turn and our party eventually and unceremoniously went down with his ship because of it.

I don’t think I will be reading this: too many other good works out there to take up one’s time. GWB left us with socialism without a fire escape.

And, as much as I like him for so many reasons, that was his biggest failure. Reagan was masterful at taking his positions to the people directly and moving them to push their congress reps and senators into the directed he wanted. Bush badly needed to do that and didn’t.
The people who use the “bully pulpit” argument claiming Reagan as an example, 1. do not recognize that the media game has changed in the past 25 years, 2. fail to understand that Reagan might have been a “one off,” and 3. fail to recognize Bush’s consistently low approval ratings (after Iraq).
It’s not that GWB was “socialist” in office: he left the framework for a socialist takeover by failure to pursue sound policies and explain his actions. He also seemed detached in the second term, and the American people turned against him, not just opposed him, but active dislike.
I won’t be buying the book......
