Senate Banking committee Chairman Christopher Dodd told CNN’s Dana Bash and Wolf Blitzer Wednesday that he was responsible for adding the bonus loophole into the stimulus package that permitted AIG and other companies that received bailout funds to pay bonuses.

Well, not entirely. You can’t make an enforceable contract to sell yourself into slavery or order a hit on your ex-wife. I could see a court harrumphing about the bonuses being “against public policy” as they overturn them. However, that is a matter for a court and not the prerogative of the executive or legislative branches, if the rule of law is to survive.

All reported that the White House, Senate, and House meet secretly and decided to strike the revocation of bonuses (by AIG) from the bill -

A term limit on congress is needed. I'd say no more than 2 terms ... all elected officials should have the same rules and regulations in my opinion.

IMO, No matter who the politician is, what race, gender or political affiliation, no matter if they are moral, or immoral, decent or scum; 8 times out of 10 the politician will become owned, or corrupt, or both.
