"The animal likely perished quickly during Discoverys climb into orbit."I'd say by the time it cleared the tower.

It was not the first bat to land on a shuttle during a countdown. Previously, one of the winged creatures landed on the tank during the countdown to launch shuttle Columbia on its STS-90 mission in 1998. That animal flew away as the engines ignited.Huh. An actual, recorded instance of "flying like a bat out of Hell!"

I coulda dispatched it with my Daisy Red Rider BB gun...guaranteed less damage than a bat “clawing it’s way into the foam” to boot.

Maybe. Probably the fastest 50 feet it ever covered, though.

Alright, that’s it. We’re shutting NASA down. One bat’s life is more important than our entire space program.

It'd be funnier than hell if it survived and found it's way into the space station. LOL

Does that make the Shuttle a Batmobile?

Does that make the Shuttle a Batmobile?Well, it goes really fast and has fire coming out of the back. I guess it qualifies.
