Many Evangelical Protestant, Catholic and Orthodox Christians did support then candidate Obama. Some observers say that the support from the Christian community secured his election to the Presidency. I believed that Christians who bought the “abortion reduction” claims would be sorry. I feared those on the “religious left” were making the same mistake that many on the “religious right” made in years past. They were being wooed by one Party and would be used by that same Party. The outspoken support of “Catholics United” and “Catholics in Alliance” for Obama nominees such as Kathleen Sebelius is inexplicable to me. They have now walked down the same road they once criticized and simply become captive to the other major Political Party.
However, something intriguing seems to be happening. It started as a murmur and now seems to have evolved into a real case of “Buyer’s Remorse” among some of the President’s Christians supporters. On Monday, March 16, 2009, one of them, David Gushee, a Professor of Christian Ethics at Mercer University and the President of ‘Evangelicals for Human Rights’ wrote an opinion piece entitled “Mr. President, we need more than lip service” for USA Today. He began this candid, well written and sad piece with these words: “Centrist evangelicals like me embraced Barack Obama’s campaign pledge to help bridge the gaps of the culture wars. Instead, the president’s short record on abortion-related issues is familiar— and disappointing — rather than revolutionary.”

Thanks. I think we all feel the frustration. Even people who should have known better were suckered into voting for this guy. Even people who do not agree with him on many issues, had to vote for him! Just too many felt they had to vote for him because he was young and charismatic. How frightening is that. Or they could not help being swept up in the mania. Of course he had a huge financial advantage too.
I wonder exactly how many pro life people even voted for him because of his promise to bring people together on this issue. They must think he had some kind of divine power because that is what it would have taken to solve the divisions over abortion.
American voters have reached critical mass, there are now more idiots voting than non-idiots.
I think people voted for him because he looked like he belonged in Hollywood. He looked good and gave a nice speech. His teeth were really white.
I honestly think they never went deeper than that.
Any Christian who voted for that abortionist, should be begging forgiveness from The Lord.

I assume you refer to the secular definition and not the one referencing some Christians’ professed ability to speak in “tongues” and perform healings.
Then again, Obama’s forked tongue liberal-speak and financial remedies based mostly on faith might make either definition fit.
What hasn’t been said, is personally I think McCain was only just slightly right of BO, but that the folks throughout this country then elected a Senate and House of Representatives that put total control behind this Marxist.

I can’t even express the amount of *sympathy* I have for a bunch of idiots who could vote for Obama and then pretend to be surprised at how he governs.

Markets fluctuate. Elections are the market place of ideas. In my opinion, most who invested in the Obama brand did so for reasons other than the promotion of the socialism to which he’s since condemned us. But the current value of the Republican brand is low because its corporate executives were proven unworthy stewards of prior public investment.
The market this time around favored unknown possibilities over familiar incompetence. The downside of that bet was not taken seriously enough. I detect a shift in investor confidence and, for now, expect another right-ward correction on 2010.

Stupid is as stupid does. You can’t fix stupid. It is too late for buyer’s remorse or gnashing of teeth. There are consequences to idiocy and we will all pay dearly for this. Zero has been elected and cannot be impeached. Enjoy the change.
SF had a big March For Life in January, lots of Catholics. Seriously, 10,000 there, and good news coverage. They interviewed a nice Filipino young man who was devoting several hours of his life and effort to March For Life. He said he voted for Obama. I just stood there and shook my head.
What was he THINKING??????

Paul, was on his way to imprison some more Christians (for being Christian) when he was chosen by the Lord. He then became the greatest evangelist of all time.
If a simple misguided vote has now become an unforgivable sin, I shudder to think about the consequences to those who attempt to usurp God’s singular authority in judging others.
Remind or chastise them, sure. Judge or condemn them, no.
