It is good to see black conservatives like Parker and Blackwell strongly criticizing Steele. That type of integrity, that put principles first and rejects identity politics is refreshing and encouraging.

I had hoped Steele was a true conservative who softened his positions a bit, to try to get elected in ultra-liberal Maryland.

However, it has become clear that he is a moderate, and even less conservative than he seemed to be.

He clearly does not support much of the party platform and is therefore the wrong man to promote and defend it. He should resign.

“However, it has become clear that he is a moderate, and even less conservative than he seemed to be.”

He was popular but never conservative. All one needed to do was read some of his earlier comments, before he was appointed RNC chair. I remember reading some of them and thinking, “this man is clearly a RINO. No conservative could possibly believe what he believes.” Now other people are starting to see through the hype, which I think was partially racial in nature (sad to say). Personally, I don’t care whether someone is male or female, black or white (or whatever). All I want is a real conservative!
