I was greeted by two uniformed officers instructing me to remove my belt, empty all pockets and place everything, including my wretched ream of requisite paperwork, onto an X-ray conveyor belt.

He probably was oblivious to the additional measures courts have taken since 9/11 to keep us safe in our public buildings. To him, it was just an annoyance that interfered with his self-examination.
