Maxine Waters under scrutiny for bank ties
LA Times ^ | 3/13/2009 | Richard Simon and E. Scott Reckard

Rep. Maxine Waters, one of Los Angeles' most enduring liberal politicians, has come under scrutiny because of bailout funds that went to a bank in which her husband had owned stock and served on the board.

Waters was a senior member of the congressional committee dealing with the financial crisis when OneUnited Bank -- one of the nation's largest minority-owned institutions -- received $12 million in bailout funds.

Her husband, Sidney Williams, served on the bank board until early last year and held at least $500,000 in investments in the bank in 2007, the most recent year for which public financial disclosure statements are available.

A month before Congress enacted the bailout program, Waters helped set up a meeting between the chief executive of the bank, representatives of other financial institutions and Treasury officials.

"When a member of the financial services committee calls, you pay special attention," said Jeb Mason, who was a high-ranking Treasury official last fall.

Are you suggesting that Maxine was stimulated by Obama?

It’s okay, she’s Black. They don’t have to be responsible for anything.

“I have seen this rodeo too many times. . . . “

Other than being a murder suspect, or a member of a bank fraud cabal, Democratic representatives are well sheltered.

It was somewhat that same way when our Constitution was written.

Benedict Arnold — the single man most responsible for America’s victory in the Revolutionary war — bacame a traitor primarily due to his mistreatment by Congress. While winning the battle of Valcour Bay (thereby delaying a British invasion via Lake Champlain for one year), Arnold lost his expense records when his boat went down — and Congress wouldn’t reimburse his expenses.

Maxine is one of the worst in Congress and I certainly hope she gets her just dues some day soon, but I doubt it with all of the corruption there in D.C. now.

Don’t hold your breath, the worst Senator just became President.

The Pravda Media has done a horrible disservice to this nation by lying (in word, deed, and by omission) in order to see the Democrats retain control of Congress and to seat Barack Obama in 2008.

They deserve every bit of their own financial collapse and bankruptcy of credibility.

I see that Mad Max has changed the picture on her Congressional home page. She used to have a shot of her psychotic, smiling face Photoshopped into a picture of several downtown L.A. buildings; a view that’s not visible from her run-down, third-world district.

One would think that the lack of honesty, ability, integrity, intelligence, morality and loyalty to the Republic shown by the overwhelming majority of elected black politicians would perhaps convince non-blacks that voting for blacks was not in their or the Republic's best interests....

Nothing proves the dreaded stereotype more convincingly than behaving accordingly.

Maxine was also a Franklin Raines defender. She used the race card to deflect charges against him. She also used the race card to help prevent regulation and oversight of Fannie/Freddie.
