I am employed with health insurance. When I go to the VA they routinely bill my private carrier.

"I am employed with health insurance. When I go to the VA they routinely bill my private carrier."They do not bill for Service Connected Disability care; only for additional care.

If you have a service-connected condition, the VA treats you free of charge for the condition for the rest of your life. If you have no means to pay for a non-service connected condition, the VA pays. If you are a non-service connected veteran with health insurance, you still get the higher quality medical care at the VA hospital but your insurance pays for it. This is as it should be.
