You want a car that sits high enough that you can see through the windscreens of the car in front of you — fair enough, all of us want that. If everyone stuck to sedans, that wouldn’t be a problem. The problem is when one guy buys a truck, then automatically all the other cars are at a disadvantage. The second person will soon follow suit and then the third, fourth etc. until everyone is driving a truck. Then, somone ups the ante and gets a Hummer or a larger, taller truck....
No, not all of us want that, given the many cars on the road with the drivers almost sitting on the ground. Clearly, they purchased their car w/o a thought to the advantage of being able to see thru the windshield of cars in front of them. Or if they thought of it, they didn't care.
If you were ever 20 something & single, & you went to buy a vehicle, was safety your primary concern? Was heightened visibility a must have? Or, as in my case, was it how cool & sexy it looked?
No, I don't see there ever being a “height” war among drivers.
