DB is likely living on an Island in the South Pacific, rolling in the surf with lovely wahinis as he lapses into old age.
That image is likely why they want to find him.

Oh fer gawdsakes already, is the FBI’s gargantuan ego in danger of being tarnished if they don’t catch “D.B. Cooper”?
But hey, why not just spend that cash on a Quixote-like investigation? Comrade 0bama’s illegal regime is emptying the U.S. treasury like a field trip of horny teenage high school kids set loose in a Chinese whorehouse with an unlimited AMEX card, so they might as well?
After they catch D.B. Cooper, I want the feds to take another look at Al Capone’s secret vault, I’ll bet Geraldo missed something.

Gary Larsen already answered that question.
Cooper landed at Ben and Vera’s rottweiler farm.

Think of this as research, they don’t really care about Cooper but they do care about developing new tools that may prove useful in the future.
To: Candor7
I hope that scenario is accurate.
Like mythical heros of Rome, Greece, Etc. I like the gaul of D.B..Cooper.

Yes, I tend to think he survived the jump, but the funny thing about it is that the FBI keeps coming back to it.
And if DBs corpse was found with that bag full of money in the woods, it would take a mighty strong hunter not to pocket it and head south himself, after having a little bonfire out in those mountains.
That was quite a high altitude jump,One wonders still if DB made it.

You know the story.
Slowed the jet and got to a survivorable altitude. And gave the pilot the waypoints.
It all comes down to training. Was he just one of our Seals, special forces or whatever that our military trained for high altitude insertion?
If so he had a good chance.
Bigger cajones than I have certainly.
