The first thing you do is drag him inside
Gun Rights Examiner ^ | March 7th, 2009 | John Pierce

I will bet good money that you have heard the advice “If you shoot an intruder on the porch, the first thing you do is drag him inside”. I have yet to meet someone who hasn’t heard this gem from an uncle, grandfather or cousin twice-removed. The person giving the advice often seeks to imbue it with authority by swearing that it was a police officer, judge or attorney who shared this sage wisdom with them.

You've got to watch Motel Hell. One of the classics from the 70's drive in.

“I’m gonna have fun with this.”

Ok. You wrote: Then drop your throw down piece. and shoot yourself in the leg twice with it.

Start the fun by explaining how you shoot yourself with your throwdown piece after you’ve dropped it :)

You could do that. Just don’t use a finger from the guy you just drug into the street.

Get him inside, take off his shoe, put it on and kick in the door.

When done, put the shoe back on the Perp. BTW, make sure you retie the shoelace the same as on the the other shoe.

Any questions?

Deputy told me once to drag the dead body into the nearest corn field. By the time the farmer picks the corn the little animals will have taken care of the evidence. One of my uncles always carried a little .25 auto as a throwdown - just in case - and he was a cop. Nobody could have hit anything with that damn little .25 so I’m glad he never had to use it, not sure anyone would have bought the defense!!

Easy

You put it in the dead guys hand so his finger prints are on it. Then you point it at your leg and make his trigger finger pull the trigger.

Don’t leave the gun in his hand though. you wanna make it look like he dropped it when he fell.

I apologize. I did not realize you were the author, but please give more credit to others. This so called advice is simply a construct to explain in simple terms how our laws assume when one is at risk and may use deadly force and when one is not at risk.

It doesn’t take a law degree to see its not serious advice. (Unless of course your an Obama voter. Then all bets are off)

Admitting I saw that one along with People under the Stairs via satellite feed with our big dish way back then. Tawdry motels in the sticks sometimes remind me of Motel Hell. Thanks for bringing THAT memory back (eyes rolling).

“Start the fun by explaining how you shoot yourself with your throwdown piece after you’ve dropped it” :)

That answer can be provided by any Liberal.

The evil gun bounced out of the holster when you dropped it, and then discharged twice.

It can happen.

Ask Vince Foster. Ummn - better make that “Ask the National Park Service Police about the Vince Foster case”.

;-(

That’s good, if he’s got a car turn on the lamps for 15 minutes and drive it. Slam the brakes in the drive.

Wrong. First thing you do is make sure he’s dead. Dead bad guys can’t sue. Honest to God deputy teaching my CCW class said “forget that two shot crap...keep pulling the trigger till it clicks”

"I will bet good money that you have heard the advice “If you shoot an intruder on the porch, the first thing you do is drag him inside”."

Friends told us this in Brazil when we lived there in the '50s.
Crime was rampant there, and in the space of 2 years in Sao Paulo I personally repelled 3 attempted break-ins - as the "man of the house," at age 9 and 10.

(But I was "big for my age;" by the time I neared 11, I was the height of the average Brazilian adult male.
And I had a .45, 1911 model.)

I’m guessing that you don’t know much about Free Republic.

If you did, you’d know that Freepers don’t need the advice you posted.

Yeah, looks like you’re just trolling for hits. If that is the case, bye bye.

If you want to associate, the join us, we’re not joining you.

The problem with the advice is that a person would have to overcome forensics, and it would be nearly impossible.

Scenario: You are standing inside, and someone is standing outside on the porch facing you. You fire and the person collapses. You drag him inside and tell the cops he came in and you shot him. You - are going to jail.

What forensics will tell the cops is this: Little droplets of blood will blow outward from the guy, landing on the doorway in front of him, upwards to the ceiling, to either side of him, and downwards. The cops will know he was on the porch.

Then the cops will examine the area you said you were standing. They will note the lack of blood spatter upwards, sideways, downward, and backward from where you said he was standing.

Blood spatter tells a LOT.

Another myth is firing one into the suspect and then firing one in the ceiling and claiming that you fired a warning. The cops will know you were lying because if you fired a warning, then the gunpowder would land on the area around you and the suspect. A second shot would overlay the powder on you and the surrounding area with blood. It's extremely tough to beat forensics.
