Glenn Beck had a theory that it was because he made (some) people feel good. Kind of like FDR.
As an opinion it's as good as any but I wondered if it was because some people were so PCed that they were afraid how it'd look to say they disagreed with someone who is, uh, has, uh, big ears. Yeah, that's it, big ears.
