I love Pat but if you think he will win the seat against all those Pa. Dems like the Murtha crowd, you are not politically smart. Pubs are through in Pa. since they could not beat a lackluster Bob Casey. Perhaps Lynn Swann would have a better chance. Arlen goes anyhow because the BASE in Pa. in still a bit more conserv than liberal but in the general election, same old same old.

A lackluster Casey may have won, but the outside money to defeat Santorum was huge. Would Toomey draw the same attacks, if he defeated Specter? Or would we have 2 non-incumbents, both with significant resources? The Santorum opponents from outside the state targeted his Pittsburgh constituency, with attacks on his residence, his children, his living arrangements, and what they considered his hypocrisy. There were a lot of those ads, running constantly on the radio and tv.

Would Toomey merit that kind of expenditure? Or will these challenging economic times result in less outside money coming in and interfering with the natural inclinations of PA voters? How much does voter fraud in the big cities cost, anyway?
