As long as they pretend to pay us, we will pretend to work.
Word goes out that a butcher shop in Moscow is going to have meat in the morning so a line forms the night before. It is a very cold Russian winter night so the people have built fires in trash cans and bundled up for the frigid night.
About 3 am the butcher goes out and announces, “There will be less meat than expected. All the Jews must leave the line.” The Jews grumble and go home.
At 7 am the butcher comes back out and says, “There will be no meat at all. Everyone go home.”
As they are going home, one Russian mutters, “Those damned Jews! They have all the luck!”
