An evangelist cop who saw a demon at 1 Police Plaza and acted "godlike" is suing the NYPD to get his gun back.
Lt. Dominic Maglione contends police brass discriminated against his religious beliefs by putting him on desk duty at Brooklyn's 90th Precinct stationhouse and stripping him of his badge and gun after a psychotic episode in April 2006.
"[The NYPD's] wrongful confiscation of [Maglione's] badge and gun have compromised [his] ability to do his job," says the Manhattan Supreme Court suit.
Documents attached to Maglione's suit describe the 21-year veteran as a "practicing evangelist," and say the 2006 hospitalization was because he starved himself because he was too busy praying.
"He was alarmingly thin, his skin was pale and he was malodorous," according to a March 2008 Police Pension Fund report, which said he once saw a demon at Police Headquarters.
The report also says he acted "godlike" and lost 20 pounds in a few weeks as result of nonstop "contact with God," and says Maglione suffers from bipolar disorder, hyperreligiosity and obsessive-compulsive disorder.

Did Obama visit the police HQ recently?

This guys case aside.. Watch for any professing believer in God who doesn’t follow the State to be diagnosed with this “hyper-religiousity” Something merely cooked up to “diagnose” people with a disorder that doesn’t exist.
Religion apart from the State is not good for communism.

What a dummy. He should have said he was a Muslim a thought he saw a Jew. They’d have bought him a Thompson.

Very sensible answer. May be what he wants, as well.
On another note — “hyperreligiosity” — that’s a new one!

Why? Do you think you might be afflicted by it?

Fellas, you're all missing the point! This is GREAT!!! It's just what we, as a society, need to use against the muslims hell bent on our destruction.
Now, we can apply that label to all the crazy islamists and take them out of circulation until they're successfully "treated"

what the *&^% is hyperreligiosity?
I would assume it means someone who is obsessive about their religion. I'm sure it could manifest itself in many ways such as dropping everything you are doing 5 times a day, turning your body in a specific geocentric alignment and gushing forth in prayers. It might also manifest itself in a desire to kill or enslave anyone whose religious mindset doesnt agree with yours. You might have irrational attitudes about your own sexuality to the point that even gazing upon the ankle of a woman drives you to self-flagellation and murderous thoughts towards the woman because it was after-all her fault in that she didnt hide herself under a tent. Those repressed sexual attitudes might even drive one to the attitude that pre-pubescent children of both sexes become attractive to you.
Wait, I forgot, those are the atributes we are supposed to respect, it's only Christians who are obsessive that are to be shunned. /sarc (did I really need to add the tag?)
BTW, if the the guy acted the way the article describes, then he did have nutjob tendencies and probably has no business with a gun in public.

Are you a Christian of any sort? Jewish perhaps? Do you take it at all seriously, make any decisions in life based on the principles of Christian or Jewish faith?
Yes?
Congratulations, you've just been diagnosed with "hyperreligiosity". Don't worry ... after a couple of years on thorazine, and daily reeducation sessions you'll be fine.

I should have specified.. “Any professing Christian believer in God.”
Muslims, of course, are excluded from the diagnosis of “hyper-religiousity” That is their culture. It is not unexpected for them to believe in what they do. If allah instructs them to blow themselves up along with as many innocence as possible, then that is their right to express their religion as they see fit.. /s

I read the title and thought he wanted his gum back . . . how nice?
When I was a teenager, I called it “constant communication with God” too.
