I'm convinced that Obama's team uses more than just Alinksy's methods. There is also the notion of getting inside the opponent's decision loop and working to a faster cycle time. This is reflected in the OODA Loop developed by Col. John Boyd (See "Boyd: the fighter pilot who changed the art of war" by Robert Coram. Great book.)

I think Obama focuses on Economics! Economics! Economics! and pushes things through rapidly. Then, the Republican party establishment bestirs itself, lines up it's economics exports, and prepares to speak intelligently about economic matters.

And at this point, Obama is talking about Porn! Pot! Abortion! and the Republicans are caught wrong-footed.

So now the Republicans will line up their socially conservative experts who will prepare themselves for deep discussions on moral issues.

Just as Obama starts to talks about Health Care! Tax Reform! Social Security!

Federal regulation of porn and pot rely on the same open-ended interpretation of the Commerce Clause the New Deal and all of Obama's stimulus and reform programs do. As long as he keeps the Republicans talking about wanting federal regulation of those under the "substantial effects" doctrine there's no grounds for them to make any kind of constitutional challenge to his programs.

Exactly. The left managed to start destroying the Republican party when they divorced morality and religion from politics. Thus we have so called conservatives who only conserve a bastardized version of the constitution but conveniently forget that it was formulated and designed to work by moral people for moral people.
