The worst side effect of pot is that it turns you stupid and liberal. Which of course is why leftists love it as an issue.
I don’t want any government power for hardly any reason. I don’t care if little blond Swedish girls are doing meth and the Brooklyn Youth Sports league for needle money.
But, what I would totally support is private property rights restrictions. I, 100% support private business having, if they choose, drug testing. Ditto land lord rights.
Don’t like it, don’t rent, don’t work there.
Further I support private communities. For instance, Florida has tons of private, gated communities that are the size of towns. They have their own schools(sort of ) police, fire, water departments.
I support what ever drug, lawn cutting, color house covenants that you agree to abide by.
Another think. If the government, which is the high cost, low quality, late deliver of services and goods, got out of the way, private enterprise would fill the bill.
For instance. Why do you think so many old Main Streets have bums and such, and Malls do not? Because malls are private and can expel who every they want. Government although taking huge taxes either won’t or doesn’t.
Same with private schools. A kid acts up, he’s out.
So, in my more libertarian, property rights world, would druggies be gone? No, but there would be a lot less places for them to exist in. Further, I wouldn’t be taking money from waitress, truck drivers, small business men to support the existence of druggies and so that the druggie assistance industry( also know as government workers ) had a nice full benefits, pensioned, no heavy lifting jobs.
Let me ask you this.
Is it in the financial interest of government druggie workers to ‘solve’ the problem? Or is it in their interest to, as the union guys say, ‘not kill the job’?
These things are sins not because God decided one days to arbitrarily pick things out of the blue and call them "sins". They're sins because they harm people and and are anathema to a healthy, happy culture.

So if we had have just done Prohibition right it would have worked? That's crazy. Things would have gotten worse and worse. Organized crime would have continued to grow more powerful. Their greed would have never stopped. They would have started pushing other drugs on alcohol users and we'd be talking about what a horrible gateway drug alcohol is. We'd have packed our prisons full of drinkers. Government corruption would have only gotten worse. The violence would have only gotten worse. Everything you see happening in the drug trade today would have happened back then. We only had a few years of Alcohol Prohibition and look at all the problems it caused us. Thank God you weren't running the show back then because you would have made it go on a lot longer and this country would have suffered a lot more. When your efforts didn't work, you'd say it's because we weren't cracking down enough and you'd crank it up a few more notches. This would go on until we resembled Chairman Mao's China.

It’s true. When I feel it’s affects, I switch over to vodka.
Beer has enabled me to get far more yardwork done in a day than I reasonably should - if I drink enough, I don’t feel the pain until the next day, when I have a nice little hangover to go with. Well, Sunday’s supposed to be a day of rest, anyway.

I wouldn’t say that they are “anathema”, but they certainly aren’t conducive to happiness. If sin necessarily precluded hapiness, there would be no happiness.
We all have our weaknesses — we all have our sin of choice. For some, it is pictures of naked women — for others, it is pious pride in bashing people who like pictures of naked women. We all struggle with something.
Equating pornography with abortion with regard to their cultural consequences (or the level of evil required) is still ridiculous.

Good question...if you want to limit harmful effects to death. Now if you're talking about other health problems, psychological problems, cultural problems, and spiritual problems then pot and pornography are right up there.
