Class warfare returns to Washington
Politico ^ | February 26, 2009 | Jeanne Cummings

President Barack Obama has spent months recasting Democratic goals on climate change and health care reform from liberal-leaning moral imperatives to hard-core economic necessities.

But when it comes to paying for them, Obama’s creative juices seemed to run dry as he turned Thursday to his party’s most predictable revenue enhancer: taxing the wealthy.

The result: an instant revival of an old and predictable Washington debate.

“This budget makes clear that the era of Big Government is back, and Democrats want you to pay for it,” said House Republican leader John A. Boehner.

And right on cue, Obama defended his $1.3 trillion in tax hikes over 10 years with a little class warfare.

“I know that this will not always sit well with the special interests and their lobbyists here in Washington, who think our budget and tax system is just fine as it is. No wonder — it works for them,” the president said. “I work for the American people, and I’m determined to bring the change that the people voted for last November.”

The exchanges beamed from microphones at either end of Pennsylvania Avenue offered reminders of how fresh Obama’s gains are and how fleeting they could become if he loses the aura of bringing a new style of leadership to the White House.

Thus far, the president has managed fairly successfully to use fresh rhetoric to produce a makeover of what is essentially an old Democratic agenda.

There is nothing “fresh” about the rhetoric.

Its the same marxist bs we have heard for years...

Bama knows full well the majority of Americans want the ‘rich’ punished.... But they expect to see more than $13.00 a week in reparations, and at the pace you are proceeding in destroying this economy you will have to take away that $13.00 by year's end.

Those making over 250,000 will fund the Government instead of growing the economy. “ Socailism is a philosphy of failure, the creed of ignorance and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misey.” Winston Churchill

It isn't $13!

It is $7.65. The $13 figure is total for married couples.

Next year it is cut in half. In the mean time all the other crap that the RATS are mandating will cost even the working poor more than double that every week.

I told my husband this morning that class warfare works as a political tool, but it will work, especially well, to bring in 0’s socialistic goals.

The average uninformed Joe sees huge sums of money going to bailout Wall Street, automakers, etc., and then they hear about large salaries of Wall Street traders, and big benefit packages for auto workers, etc.

Their natural inclination is to say, “Where’s my payoff” and with that, 0 promises healthcare, college tuition, etc...ushering in socialism.

The political and economic climate is ripe for it, unfortunately. Hopefully, “America” will come to it’s senses and realize the government can give nothing without taking it first. But 0 says he’s taking it from the rich people, so they think it’s okay, and believe that’s where it will stop.

The amazing thing for me is that just a short time ago John Edwards was roundly ridiculed for preaching class warfare. Now it’s standard fare. It boggles the mind.

The problem that Zero is going to have is that even if he taxed the “rich” at 100% he still won’t have enough revenue to pay for his grand socialist schemes. That being the case, it won’t be long before he’ll be reaching into the pockets of the middle class and that’s when it will hit the fan.

As an aside, ask the average misinformed person if they’re for doing something about “global warming” and they’ll probably agree. Tell them that cap and trade is going to easily double their electric bill and see the response!

No matter how many times it’s gets said, there is no such thing as a free lunch. Someone is going to pay for it.

"Bama knows full well the majority of Americans want the ‘rich’ punished"

This is likely true. Half want Capitalist Pigs punished and half want Limousine Liberals punished.

0be's going to get a first-hand, object lesson in the use of the Laffer Curve.

He’s a student of the doctrine of Black Liberation Theology that he chose to be listen to for years with Rev. Wright; take from the have’s and give to the have not’s. More to come unfortunately. He’s just implementing his socialist views.

The liberals are stealing money from the people who would use it to create jobs.

The “rich” DO NOT bury their money in the back yard!
They use it to buy goods and services, or make it available for lending,....or, more directly, HIRE NEW WORKERS!!!

Until conservatives learn to make their point more directly they will continue in obscurity. Phrases like “class warfare” mean nothing to the average voter.

I actually heard an Obama spokesperson say when presented with the rise in utility bills due to cap and trade: “The tax cuts (i.e. 13 bucks a week) will offset any rise in the utility bill.” So what’s the point of a tax cut if you’re just going to turn around and take it away by causing a rise in utility bills?

Hey come on—give this a chance. You can’t expect a quick fix...

I mean, Mugabe took Zimbabwe over in what, 1980, or so?—he implemented change, but it took a while.

But now, in 2009, Zimbabwe is a shining example of....

Oops, never mind.

You all REALLY have to go read this "budget" document. It is like a textbook for a college course in Class Warfare.

Class Warfare 101

These guys are dead serious. They want to remake America overnight. They want to define a permanently reviled "upper class" that they can blame for all of our nation's problems. They want to redefine "middle class" to include nearly everyone, and hook us all permanently to the government teat.

This is not Karl Marx. It is Juan Peron.
