Murdoch is not omnipotent. He paid three prices for Dow Jones. He thought paper newspapers could be made to work.
Wrong.

Mine arrived in 1735, and I am both angered and frightened about our country’s future (or lack thereof) that they fought and in many cases gave their lives for.

Paddy Chayefsky wrote that marvelous screenplay for “Network”. A brilliant writer and as far as TV media is concerned a prophet.

Sad, but true.
The entire statement.

Mindful of the general malaise and fully cognizant of the depressed climate everywhere,
The Sun will be assisting the transition to our brave new world and helping to lift spirits by printing tasteful pictures of topless babes on both pages 3 and 5 of all future issues.
Thank you, Rupert.

’ I’m still not crazy about her show because of the gossip magazine style of content it has. “
Agree, but it will pull some additional audience for her, and I’m for that if she keeps the tell it like it is style which is a refreshing change.

There is no way that future generations will ever be able to live under this enormous national debt. actually I think the solution is fairly simple. deal with the old people. All you have to do is to kill everyone over the age of 80 and offer them the option of living in a cheaper country like the phillipines, thailand, etc with 1/4 the benefits they would get.
the retirement costs to society get cut by 75% or 100%, problem solved.

I will say, while the movie is a bit dated, it’s interesting to see a lot of things that have indeed come to pass, in terms of the media, since that movie came out.

This is indeed a critical time in our nation’s history.
However, this particular headline is Drudge excerpting a quote out of context. Murdock’s written a memo to NewsCorp employees that essentially says competitors are extraordinarily stressed by the economic situation and cutting back, but NewsCorp is going to use it’s deep pockets to continue to improve its position in the market. Murdock’s quote has more to do with his company’s strategy than the future of the world.
