People get monumentally ticked off about their power bills. Sort of like how people get out of proportion mad about stamps going up 2 cents, but don’t seem to be as passionate about pouring money down a hole in bailouts.

The key to this will be where the rebates fall by income level. This isn’t like how they keep the taxes out of your paycheck so most never write the check. It will be a big shock to see a power bill doubled.

I would think a lawsuit based on the Global Warming rationale (Fraud) would be opened up by this. I would also like to see a group of states band together and make a states rights case and protect the Power Company in those states. For example, if you could get the states serviced by Southern Company to get together (Alabama, Georgia etc) and create a constitutional issue over it. This is going to kill the coal burning utilities. I am no constitutional scholar so perhaps there isn’t an opening, but the coal based states are going to be in a major uproar if this goes through.

“...the coal based states are going to be in a major uproar if this goes through.”

And the coal states voted for whom?
