"Proposing an amendment to the Constitution of the United States to repeal the twenty-second article of amendment, thereby removing the limitation on the number of terms an individual may serve as President."
... See the rest at the link ...
Congressman Jose “Serrano authored the English Plus Resolution , which calls on the government to encourage all Americans to learn and use multiple languages, in addition to English. He vehemently opposes “English only” proposals because he believes that implementing such a policy would be harmful to civil rights and America’s broader national interests. In 1996, the English Plus Resolution came close to House passage, and Serrano has proposed it again in the current Congress.” (From his website)
Seems the famous congressman from the Bronx has higher aspirations...ie el presidente. It’s no wonder, like his cousin Chavez, he seeks to remove term limits for el presidente.
Turd world socialistic mentality serving in our US Congress. Should we expect any less from them? The problem is, as I see it at this juncture, we are outnumbered. The only thing we have left is our US Constitution. When it fails to prevent the socialists from a total seizure of our govt, we have but one resolve.
Please, don't sugar coat it. Tell us what you really think.
Well, thank GOD they can’t put it to a vote like in Venezuela, I seriously doubt 3/4 of the states would ratify it.
“Not that it might not happen, but its not like something Obama is doing.”
At least not openly.
Folks, chill out.
In the 111th Congress, this bill, introduced by Congressweenie Jose Serrano, D-NY-16, was HJ Res 5. There are no cosponsors.
In the 110th Congress, this bill, introduced by Congressweenie Jose Serrano, D-NY-16, was HJ Res 8. There were no cosponsors. It died in subcommittee without consideration.
In the 109th Congress, this bill, introduced by Congressweenie Jose Serrano, D-NY-16, was HJ Res 9. There were no cosponsors. It died in subcommittee without consideration.
In the 108th Congress, this bill, introduced by Congressweenie Jose Serrano, D-NY-16, was HJ Res 11. There were actually three cosponsors. It died in subcommittee without consideration.
In the 107th Congress, this bill, introduced by Congressweenie Jose Serrano, D-NY-16, was HJ Res 4. There were no cosponsors. It died in subcommittee without consideration.
In the 106th Congress, this bill, introduced by Congressweenie Jose Serrano, D-NY-16, was HJ Res 17. There was one cosponsor. It died in subcommittee without consideration.
In the 105th Congress, this bill, introduced by Congressweenie Jose Serrano, D-NY-16, was HJ Res 19. There was again one cosponsor. It died in subcommittee without consideration.
In the 104th Congress, this bill, introduced by Congressweenie Bawney Fwank, D-MA-, was HJ Res 68. There was one cosponsor. It died in subcommittee without consideration.
And I could keep going back. This has probably been introduced every Congress since the 22d Amendment was passed.
As a reminder, the executive branch, and the legislative branch of our fed gov now has a majority of socialists at the helm.
Yes, it would take 3/4s of the states to ratify. But suppose the fed, as it has done may times in the past, regarding other laws it wished to impose, ie 55 mph, .08 alcohol levels etc., witholds funds from the states which refuse to ratify said amendment?
Get here quick, we need you and yours.
If I can’t make it - will you share the recipe? (((hugs)))
A Bill to repeal this Amendment has been introduced in Congress for at least the last decade or two. It has never gotten anywhere.

And in any case it would not apply to the current sitting President (Obama). Same thing as when the amendment was passed -- it didn't affect Truman (the Dem), but it affected Eisenhower (the Rep).
If the Dems were to pass this, and get 3/4 of the states to agree (never happen), the first President it would apply to would be the Republican who will follow Obama.
Everybody go back to sleep now. ;-)
obuma will barely finish his first term. By 2010 obuma will be as popular as a snake in the toilet. He’ll slither away, be sent off into the witness protection program and live in a bungalow with Joey “Two-Finger” Mbuku.
44% of the Supreme Court through the most twisted logic ever witnessed said the second amendment doesen’t mean what it says. Be very afraid.
The sponsor of the bill, Jose Serrano, seems like a real piece of work from New York. Check out what he proposed in H.Con. Res 3. The bill is called "English Plus" .
Here's a sample:
...recognize the importance of multilingualism to vital American interests and individual rights, and oppose `English-only' measures and other restrictionist language measures.
Guess Zero plans on (at least) two terms...
Sorry, but I thought, no way can he get elected
I should assume so. It would be an amendment.
That would be quite an accomplishment: 3/4 of the states. But I don’t think this is the first time such an amendment, or repeal of the amendment has been proposed and has never gone anywhere.
Oh my gosh, that is funny. And it’s actually true! Although it might be a little to upsetting for Nancy having to see him sitting in the Oval Office. Nancy Reagan, I meant, but hey, it might be good to give Nancy Pelosi a shock.
