Nothing is 100%, we could die driving or our plane can crash but one does try to find reasonable compromises to live normally.. Even before my kid was born I was fine giving up peanuts on planes seemed the human thing to do.
As you said, it is your responsibility, the only argument here is how far your cautions extend to airline companies and their responsibilities.

For me its not really the peanuts. If I want them I buy a bag and put them in my carryon. Which displays the uselessness of forcing airplanes to stop providing them.
I’m allergic to heavy perfumes and stinky people. I’d sure appreciate if the airline would ban them.
