EDITORIAL: Did blabbermouth Feinstein spill secrets?
The Washington Times ^ | February 16, 2009 | staff

When reporters asked President Franklin Roosevelt where Lt. Col. Jimmy Doolittle's raiders launched their daring 1942 raid on the Japanese mainland, he puckishly answered, “from our new secret base at Shangri-La.”

Contrast Roosevelt's slyness with Sen. Diane Feinstein's recent comment regarding the secret location of the launch sites for Predator hunter/killer drones — “As I understand it, these are flown out of a Pakistani base.”

Sen. Feinstein's defense for discussing this highly sensitive information, that she was only repeating what she read in the papers, is greatly unconvincing.

It is true that the Washington Post first reported Predators operating out of bases in Pakistan, and the senator's flak catcher Philip J. LaVelle says that this report was what she was referring to. But there is a difference between making an allegation in a local paper and having the chair of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence confirm it. After all, her remark was “as I understand it,” not “according to the papers.”

In 1980, Feinstein married Richard C. Blum, an investment banker. Feinstein has received scrutiny for Blum's extensive business dealings with China and her past votes on trade issues with the country. Critics have argued that Feinstein's support, as a member of the Senate's Military Construction Appropriations subcommittee, of policies that may benefit her husband may raise the appearance of a conflict of interest.[6] Suburban newspaper Metro Silicon Valley reported in 2007 that Blum holds large investments in companies that have won large government contracts without competitive bidding. In April 2007, Feinstein's office denied there was a conflict of interest and stated that her departure from the subcommittee had nothing to do with the reports in the Metro weeklies.

As of December 2006, according to SEC filings and FedSpending.org, three corporations in which Blum's financial entities own a total of $1 billion in stock won considerable favor from the budgets of the Department of Defense and the Department of Veterans Affairs.

In 2003, Feinstein was ranked the fifth-wealthiest senator, with an estimated net worth of $26 million.[7] By 2005 her net worth had increased to between $43 million and $99 million.[8] Her 347-page financial-disclosure statement[9] – characterized by the San Francisco Chronicle as "nearly the size of a phonebook" – draws clear lines between her assets and those of her husband, with many of her assets in blind trusts.[10]

Wasn’t she the genius who let some info slip on the hillside strangler as well? Something about saying they knew what kind of shoes he was wearing so he went out and got some new shoes.

Did Feinstein spill secrets? Do bears perform bodily functions in forested areas?

I support a Rat for governor of CA. Right now we have a Rino who gives the GOP a bad name. Might as well have a Rat..we won’t get a conservative until the state goes belly up and cries uncle.

She’s a DemonRAT.

The press will always give her a pass.

I can promise you, nothing to impede her career will come of this. In fact, given that she’s a DemonRAT, it may enhance her resume, especially with the anti-American cockroaches of the MSM.

And this Leftist incompetent buffoon is rumored to want to run for governor of our state next year...

I don't think she is incompetent.

She knows exactly what she is doing and has achieved the desired effect - Obama and the Dems look tough on terrorism and people in Pakistan who are working for the interests of the US, thus counter the interests of Pakistan's traditional ally and Blum business partner the People's Republic of China, are now feeling the heat from the fanatics.

Do ya think she CHEATS on her INCOME TAXES?

As far as I can tell, it’s a REQUIREMENT for Demoncrats to be TAX CHEATS.

So what would be the difference between her and the incompetent buffoons that came before?

No matter who the voters choose, they end up being incompetent buffoons.

Methinks that perhaps the problem is not that California ends up with so many incompetent buffoons. Perhaps the problem lies with the incompetents buffoons known as the voters of California.

All Leftists are incompetents because Socialism/Communism has/is failing everywhere it is tried.

Arnold is a traitor to his party and the people of the state that elected him.

Feinstein is a traitor to her country. She has made a mockery of our corruption laws and has sought to trample the liberties of every American at every opportunity.

She is NOT better than he is.

Socialism works quite well for those in power. Socialism in North Korea is a ringing success for Kim Jong Il. Only the people of the DPRK are going hungry.

It's a mistake to regard those with whom you disagree as incompetent, unintelligent or inept. They are doing exactly what they want to do and achieving exactly the goals they want to achieve. They are quite competent.

“Socialism in North Korea is a ringing success for Kim Jong Il.”

You need to pick up your Bible and read Mark 8:36

“For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?”

I don’t know if it was accidental or not. The Democrats on the intelligence committee have a long record of leaking secret information. And it’s usually on purpose.
