From what I read, the Iridium bird was also near end of life cycle. Originally a system of commercial birds, later contracted for military SatPhone use.
There were already plans to de-orbit the birds. Think I read there were 74 total.
Heaven only know how many other satellites are up there. They are certainly not all ours anymore.
Bigger threat is a Nuclear Iran. The Krazy Mullas will use them, but Israel will destroy them before they do. Probably without our help now.

Nuclear Iran is a problem for everyone—including its historical Persian and Arabian friends and foes alike. NO ONE gains anything by the further destabilization of the region and world beyond resulting from Tehran upping the ante with the nuke card. The Soviets and Americans both held life more sacred than death, so in its own absurdly frightening way M(utually) A(ssured) D(estruction) worked as a deterrent. On the other hand, when the greatest glory is to die for your “god” (small g), we have M(ost) A(ssured) D(etonation). Israel will do what Israel feels it must to prevent that. Bank on it.
As for how long the current POTUS remains in office, the clock says 1434 Days, 13 Hours, 14 minutes and change.
